' ALAN CURTIS '

Trust in rallying call to Swans fans
January 7, 2016

The Swansea City Supporters’ Trust has called on all Swans fans to get behind the new management team and the players for the rest of the Season as the Club looks to secure a sixth consecutive campaign in the Premier League.

The rallying call followed the announcement by the Club that the current ‘caretaker’ management team headed by Alan Curtis would continue in charge until the rest of the Season.

It is no secret that the Swans have been looking for a permanent manager following the departure of Garry Monk, but the absence of a suitable candidate together with the upturn in performances which have been evident since the current management team took charge of team affairs has prompted the Club Board to offer them the role for the rest of the Season.

Trust Chairman Phil Sumbler welcomed the statement from the Club which has ended the uncertainty surrounding a managerial appointment. He added:
The Supporters’ Trust has been kept fully informed of efforts to secure a permanent managerial appointment and recognise the difficulty that the Club Board has faced. The continuing uncertainty has however raised concerns amongst fans and today’s announcement will allow everyone to concentrate fully on what will be a challenging time for all connected with the Swans.

In Alan Curtis we know we have someone who will give 100% commitment to the Club and, with the support of Academy Head of Coaching Dave Adams, the positive effect that a short period in charge has brought has been evident. We send the new management team our best wishes and call on all Swans fans to give them full support to ensure that the improved performance levels continue and the Swans move quickly away from our current precarious league position.”

I like Curtis. Hope he fails though and they go down.

The trusts need to make a rallying call to fans, shows they have massive confidence in the appointment. ;)

Ha ha absence of a suitable candidate, more like turned down by every decent Manager so had to give it to Curtis

He will send them down, Ole was a nice bloke too, but a useless Manager, which manager would you want for a relegation battle Curtis, Alex Neil or Allerdyce ???

Reminds me of the season we got Ole and Palace got Pullis we all know the outcome......

Its no secret, Bielsa was the first choice, he wanted 18 months at £7m a year (£10.5m), Jenkins agreed as long as there was a clause that should we get relegated then we could renegotiate. Bielsa said no, Swansea moved on.

Others, including Rodgers said they'd be interested but in the summer (now whether that's because he wanted a break or didn't want to put his reputation on the line, who knows).

Curt is decent but like any manager who came in he needs a few reinforcements, we hope Jenkins will deliver this window, including Doumbia (look him up)

Out of his depth because everyone else turned you down :laughing5:

Brenda would only come if nothing else crops up, he's playing with you, more like !!!

That was a big game that you messed up yesterday, I think you'll go down this year!!!

Should have taken the risk, could have set aside the cash at the start of the season knowing he may well have resigned if you get relegated anyways.

Doumbia looks good in Russia but didn't do it in Italy last year. Big ask to hit the ground running in Jan.

Rivalry is all well and good, as is bitterness - but lets stick to the facts.

Who turned us down? Do you know Brendan Rodgers then? How did we mess up yesterday, we were the better side and lost due to scarcely believable refereeing decisions.

Everyone he's asked, he's been around the World looking for a fancy Manager, and can't get any to come, so youre stuck with the caretaker, who has never chosen to do it before..........

Your equalising penalty was worst decision of game. A bit like the penalty you got v Bournemouth. Stop moaning about officials. Speaks of desperation.

You mean the equaliser that cancelled out an offside goal? What cancelled out the laughable red card and the other offside goal then?

You are entitled to your opinion, but I along with the football pundits and experts tend to disagree. It was biabolical refereeing in Sunderland's favour... And this is coming from someone who rarely criticises officials.

I believe he approached Bielsa who wanted an 18 month contract, a contract we did not want to give him. Which means we turned his offer down. I believe he approached Brendan Rodgers who wanted to manage us but cant until the end of the season due to a contractual agreement (if we survive I fully exoect him to be our new permanent boss). I dont think anybody else has been seen as a suitable candidate for the project we have, the standards are incredibly high.

Do you know different then? Or just being silly?

Perfectly calm. Replying to irrational comments doesnt make one "un-calm".

You are right, I didn't comment on the Bournemouth penalty because it had no effect on the diabolical decisions leading to us losing 3 points against Sunderland yesterday... Although from memory it was a fine decision, contact and a trip. The decisions against Sunderland are rarely seen in football these days thankfully, even less so in a single match.

Deluded. Never a pen v Bournemouth. Had it been at the other end you'd have been crying like you were against Sunderland. Never mind Roathie.

Not at all lad. If there is contact in the box and the player goes down then the ref is fully entitled to give a penalty. For example Kyle Bartley gave one away against Oxford, it was only the faintest of touches and many people were up in arms. Was I? No. If you give the ref an excuse to blow then sometimes he will. I dont blame the oxford player for going down easily, and neither would i if the bournemouth one was reversed, for the same reasoning.

So against bournemouth there was contact - penalty. Against Sunderland there is no legislation for sending someone off for tackling someone fairly (now rescinded) or allowing two offside goals (while deciding to correctly disallow your own). Now if you disagree then im afraid the delusion is all on your part, clouded by the desperation to bash your big brothers.

To the poster above, anyone who gives a valid argument and can string a sentence together is "Roathie", i assume you also fit the bill. Take it and smile, when they dish out that line - you know you have won.

If they gave out degrees for talking bollocks you'd have a first class honours one. You lot are all the same. Cry and moan when refs give poor decisions against you claiming its a conspiracy. Get over yourselves. Your not as good as you think you are.

Just saw sport Wales, general opinion, you've fecked up and Moyes and no one else wants to come because they know you are struggling and expect you to go down.

Cirtis was announced as caretaker, and it was not expected he would remain in charge, because obviously they didn't think he was good enough.

Moaning about decisions shows how worried your fans are, get over it we all have bad decisions :laughing5:

By "general opinion" - do you mean the opinion of one or two people with an agenda to create headlines? thought so. Why on earth you think we gave long ball Moyes the opportunity to manager our great clubill never know. Bemused is the word.

Curtis was always going to be caretaker, just like he has been in the past. It was more a case of not being able to continue with Monk rather than needing someone else to come in. Since Curtis has come in the performances have been excellent. Outplayed Man City on their patch, as well as being unlucky not to get something from Old Trafford suffering a late winner. Not to mention the debacle against sunderland.

Football fans will complain at awful reffing decisions, simply - if they are awful. The red card has been recinded (FA agreeing he should not have been sent off), so i think thats genuine grounds for complaint

As much as you guys are watching us far more than you are watching your own team at the moment in the hope that our little blip (we arent even in the relegation zone) continues, while sensationalising stories to convince yourself that there are bigger problems than there are to take away the pain of being an average second division team - you really should realise that bitterness gets you nowhere and it certainky doesn't put bums on seats as the 25,000 empty seats last week can vouch for.

So you think its bollocks that a FA reviewed and rescinded red card shouldnt have been given in the first place? Or is it bollocks that if there is contact in the area and the player goes down then the ref is entitled to give a pen (for either side) if he deems fit? Or, more likely, is it sense that you simply do not want to hear?

Who has complained of a conspiracy? I havent. I have rightfully noted an awful ref. We are absolutely as good as I think we are. I assure you of that.
