RUSSELL SLADE TODAY HINTS

Russell Slade searching for right balance on transfers

Slade has hinted his squad will be tweaked rather than overhauled:

There’s always a risk to any investment small or large. There are no guarantees. But it can give you a better opportunity because you have more options at your disposal. If you have a good group, clubs who bring in five or six can upset the balance, The spirit and togetherness can be affected if you don’t attract the right players and the amount. The quality and quantity is important.

" Slade on keeping squad together "

Slade says he’s determined not to break up the nucleus of his side:

It’s the time of year - you get speculation. But it’s as important to hold onto players as well as bring them in.
Any offers for players?

I would not tell you. There are not to my knowledge any offers.

Sounds like he's backtracking on his wish to bring 3 transfers in

This statement is spin end of.Slade said he wanted 3 quality signings at the start of the season and we got none.2 weeks ago he says he expects to be very busy this window, and wants to add a striker and a winger to the mix. It's obvious that Tan has put the boot in and told him no money is available. Will have to sell to be able to buy,i just wish he would say f**k all in the first place!!

I'm beginning to feel this so called transfer committee is a total farce, you have 3 people on this committee who know nothing about football and a manager who knows nothing about bringing in quality signings..
..oh joy

Christmas morning for Slade then. He doesn't have a clue.. Let's hope he wakes up a happy clappy trooper, because that's all he is. A trooper. No say what so ever.

In other words expect two signings at the most that won't add quality to the squad that we already have.

And for that reason I hope he isnt allowed to bring anyone in. We are not going up, we are not going down lets just get to the summer with what weve got, thank him for his services and start afresh with someone who knows what they are doing.

If theres no money in the summer and the new guy has to work with the youngsters and loans then so be it. Weve got a crop of "kids" now around the 21/22 mark time for a few of them to step up to the mark.

He just seems to talk shit, every interview he does and rubbish he says makes me cringe.

I'm beginning to agree with your sentiment, I feel we can't progress as a club until Tan goes and hopefully a new owner will bring in a quality manager

All we seem to get out of this club is BULLSHIT on top of BULLSHIT. I hope to god that he replaces Kenwynne Jones with another target man, even if that's the only business we do.I hope he doesn't think Mason and Watt are the answer. :bluebird:

Re: " RUSSELL SLADE TODAY HINTS "

I've mentioned in the past if the club's directors and manager just said we're in the shit boys there's no substantial money for transfers then most of us would see common sense and think fair enough no different too how you would run your own finances. They feel they have too mention money available potential signings just too keep fans on their side . The opposite is true a lot of fans will feel it's more bullshit coming out of the club and again a lack of transparency shown by them. I don't expect to know everything that goes on with the club but when they come out in the press with these vague statements of intent they are only setting themselves up for a fall

Re: " RUSSELL SLADE TODAY HINTS "

Fri Jan 08, 2016 1:31 pm

We all know he (Slade) has no say.
His hands are tied etc
He can offer players but utimately, its not his choice.

We now buy and sell on cost rather on value and sustainability to club.

My frustration to Slade is his wincing behind a veil of this

Just man the f**k up and say the truth

"ive asked for re-inforcements and initially as usual, the signs were good but when the crunch came, we cant afford them until we lose or dead wood"

Surely this type of statement is realistic to the club and to the fans

Stop your flat fish chatter you f*cking lapdog

I think he was wishing for 3 transfers in. But has been told no. Now he's trying to sugar coat it.

What a miserable bunch of tw-ts you all are!

It's the silly season of the transfer window and no manager is going to tell you the truth about transfer dealings in a press conference, no matter who your manager is.

As soon as any news is released about the club, good or bad, the same old faces make the usual negative posts about Slade and/or Tan. Neither is going anywhere soon, and the constant whining from people who can't get their own way is spoiling this board. :bluebird:

Re: " RUSSELL SLADE TODAY HINTS "

It's been obvious for a long time that Tan's number one priority is to recoup some of his losses. There was never going to be any big money available during the first transfer window, and it is exactly the same for this transfer window. The only big movement we are likely to see are our better players leaving rather than quality being brought in. We may pick up the odd obscure overseas player, or someone cheap from the lower divisions or even non league football, but I'm afraid that's our lot. As I've been saying all season, this club's s only priority this season is to maintain their Championship status while slashing their running costs. Does'nt really matter now who we bring in or sell, the club is not going to be relegated whatever happens, we are still going to be playing in the Championship next season, costs are being reduced, so as far as Tan is concerned job done for now.

That's fine but be upfront about it instead of pissing down our backs and telling us it's raining.

And if we are gonna pick up a lower league player make it a youngster not a 32 year old journeyman.

I agree. The club will say what it thinks the fans want to hear, not what they actually intend to do. They will be wanting to shift as many season tickets as possible in a few months time, so they are not going to make any statements that are going to have an adverse effect on sales. A bit like politicians really, all spin and no substance.

Why doesn't Slade resign if he's so under the cost from Tan,if he did that he would probably get another managerial job with a 1st or 2nd division club where he really belongs

Slade won't get the chance to manage a club our size again that's why he won't resign.
