Russell Slade searching for right balance on transfers
Slade has hinted his squad will be tweaked rather than overhauled:
There’s always a risk to any investment small or large. There are no guarantees. But it can give you a better opportunity because you have more options at your disposal. If you have a good group, clubs who bring in five or six can upset the balance, The spirit and togetherness can be affected if you don’t attract the right players and the amount. The quality and quantity is important.
" Slade on keeping squad together "
Slade says he’s determined not to break up the nucleus of his side:
It’s the time of year - you get speculation. But it’s as important to hold onto players as well as bring them in.
Any offers for players?
I would not tell you. There are not to my knowledge any offers.

And for that reason I hope he isnt allowed to bring anyone in. We are not going up, we are not going down lets just get to the summer with what weve got, thank him for his services and start afresh with someone who knows what they are doing.
If theres no money in the summer and the new guy has to work with the youngsters and loans then so be it. Weve got a crop of "kids" now around the 21/22 mark time for a few of them to step up to the mark.

Sounds like he's backtracking on his wish to bring 3 transfers in

It's the silly season of the transfer window and no manager is going to tell you the truth about transfer dealings in a press conference, no matter who your manager is.
As soon as any news is released about the club, good or bad, the same old faces make the usual negative posts about Slade and/or Tan. Neither is going anywhere soon, and the constant whining from people who can't get their own way is spoiling this board.![]()

There was never going to be any big money available during the first transfer window, and it is exactly the same for this transfer window. The only big movement we are likely to see are our better players leaving rather than quality being brought in. We may pick up the odd obscure overseas player, or someone cheap from the lower divisions or even non league football, but I'm afraid that's our lot. As I've been saying all season, this club's s only priority this season is to maintain their Championship status while slashing their running costs. Does'nt really matter now who we bring in or sell, the club is not going to be relegated whatever happens, we are still going to be playing in the Championship next season, costs are being reduced, so as far as Tan is concerned job done for now.

That's fine but be upfront about it instead of pissing down our backs and telling us it's raining.
And if we are gonna pick up a lower league player make it a youngster not a 32 year old journeyman.

Why doesn't Slade resign if he's so under the cost from Tan,if he did that he would probably get another managerial job with a 1st or 2nd division club where he really belongs
