Was Kenwyne Jones offered contract?

Kenwyne Jones says he wasn’t offered a new deal at Cardiff before securing a move to Al Jazira this week.

Slade responds when that point is put to him:

I would not know all the version of events. I’m pretty sure there was a dialogue between his people and Kenwyne and our board.
Was it a financial decision? Did you make a call on his sale?

Yeah, look, you have to run a business and you have to deal with that situation. It was well known he was one of our top earners. In terms on longevity, it had to be looked at. Contracts have to be reviewed if you are to keep a stable club





Russell Slade on... replacing Kenwyne Jones

Kenwyne Jones is gone and Russell Slade has appeared to suggest he may have to bide his time to get the man he would like to bring in as a replacement.

He said:

Kenwyne brought great qualities in both boxes. He did a great job for us. It’s not easy to replace him. There are not so many target men out there, but we are looking at it and hope to resolve it. These things are a process. You would like them done quickly, but sometimes getting right player is a process. We will see what we can come up with.

It’s a month here you can’t panic. Things do get done later this month. It depends on the Premier League and how quick they get business done. And clubs in Europe too. You have to wait sometimes for that fluidity of players moving.

I doubt there is any intention to sign players. It will just be a clearout of whoever they can get rid of.

2. How can he shut up? He's doing a press conference. The questions are asked. How more truthful can u be than saying u have to get the right man and it takes time?

I think my reply sounded harsher than it was meant to reading it back to myself but shutting up and keeping quiet have to be pretty close. Lol
