A forum for all things Cardiff City

With Kenwyne Jones jetting off to Dubai and Federico Macheda and Alex Revell set to follow him out of Cardiff City Stadium, the Bluebirds desperately need attacking reinforcements.

Walesonline understands the club have been chasing a foreign target man currently playing in the Championship.
The likes of Kike, Tomer Hemed and Chris Martin have all impressed this season, but it seems unlikely they could be drawn to South Wales as their sides fight for automatic promotion.
So who does that leave?
Here, Phil Smith takes a look at the men who might be on Russell Slade's shopping list...
Jonathan Kodjia
Last season's Ligue 2 player of the year has hit the ground running at Bristol City, who signed him for around £2 million in the summer.
At 6ft 2in, the Frenchmen has scored nine goals and would look to be an ideal fit for Cardiff's needs.
Would Bristol be prepared to let a fan favourite and star asset go as they scrap for survival? Cardiff would have to stump up the cash if he is their man.
Philipp Hoffman
Signed by Brentford in the summer from FC Kaiserlautern, the 6ft 5in giant German certainly fits the bill.
He made a strong start to his Griffin Park career, scoring a last minute winner against Nottingham Forest in November.
But he has been reduced to a substitute role over the Christmas period, so an audacious move from Cardiff may land on receptive ears.
Sone Aluko
At 5ft 8in, Aluko hardly fits the target man bill, but if Cardiff are in the market for a striker with Championship experience, then surely Aluko should be near the top of their list?
Aluko has been a bit-part player for Hull this season, scoring just once in 16 appearances.
His track record is excellent, however, and he has been a good servant to Hull and previously Rangers, where he remains very popular.
He may not bring much aerial threat, but would provide pace, power and spark.
Souleymane Doukara:
Nicknamed The Duke, 6ft 1in Doukara has endured a frustrating season so far at Elland Road, making only 13 appearances and not yet scoring a goal.
Doukara was one of six signings made by controversial owner Massimo Cellino to pull out of the squad the day before a match against Charlton Athletic.
A versatile forward who can also play off the wing, he could well be in Cardiff's transfer plans.
Bjorn Sigurdarson:
Icelandic striker Sigurdarson returned to the Wolves team after a long injury lay-off, but seems unlikely to dislodge goal machine Benik Afobe from the starting line up.
Tall and good in the air, he holds the ball up well and would seem a logical replacement for Kenwyne Jones in Russell Slade's favoured system.
With only one senior appearance to his name, Wolves may well be happy to ship him out on a short or long term basis.
Ricardo Vaz Te:
An experienced Championship striker, Vaz Te singed for Charlton last summer.
He has played only nine times and is yet to score for his new club.
With the Addicks in significant turmoil and facing the threat of relegation, a move to play-of hunting Cardiff would surely appeal?
Orlando Sa:
The 6ft 2in striker has scored goals wherever he has played.
His record reads 18 in 39 games for AEL Limassol, 14 in 33 for Legia Warsaw and five in 14 for Reading.
Sa has never been able to hold down a regular place in Championship football, but may well have the attributes and goal scoring record to be a success for Cardiff.
Sebastian Polter:
This imposing German has began to enjoy more playing time under new QPR boss Jimmy Flloyd Hasselbaink, with two goals in his last two appearances.
He is ferocious in the air and scored just under one goal every two games for F.C Union Berlin last year.
With Charile Austin's future up in the air, QPR may feel they can't afford to let him go.

Out of this list I would sign Philipp Hofmann especially if he is not getting regular football at Brentford

We were linked with Kodjia in the summer would like us to go in for him he has impressed me scoring goals in a poor team.

Bjorn Sigurdarson could be a possibility as he only has 6 months left on his contract, he has been riddled by injury problems though.

Should fit our current crop then

Vaz Te only signed for Charlton the week before we signed Watt. If the rest of the list is as well researched as that then we might aswell throw it away.

My hunch is Nuhiu of Wednesday. They've got a shedload of strikers and he's big! Kodija would be the best by far, but he cost Brizzle three million and we'd have to pay five. Tan isn't putting any money in.
