Big Man/Little Man

Wed Jan 06, 2016 6:05 pm

Slade seems like he wants this strike pairing? Kind of an old prehistoric way of playing football if you ask me with a big man little man striker partnership, just launch the ball at the big man to hold up or head the ball and play the little man in to score, the type of tactics you would see deployed in park football and merthyr league football etc.

Or am i wrong in thinking this? Just wondering can people on here think of teams that use this in modern football? Give examples of the teams and players below...

I really hope he plays Watt and Saadi upfront we would rip teams apart.

On what basis do you know that they have never played together and saadi has played a few minutes more or less another crocked injury prone signing by tan :laughing6:

And also I can't think of anyone that uses big man/small man strike combo not to many teams even use two strikers anymore.

Leicester are using it with Vardy and that Illoua

In our division I've seen Ipswich use it with Murphy and Sears

How many times are you going to start the same thread though? You and Rydo the sheep have just been banging on and on and on and on about Saadi and Watt like they are going to be Messi and Suarez ffs

Not really they have both got a bit of pace.

If you think Watt / Saadi are similar to Deeney and Ighalo then I'll have some of what you are smoking.

You've seen Saadi for what? 20 minutes? He's about a foot shorter than the Watford pair

Tony Watt likes to get in pockets, turn and run at defenders. Neithe Ighalo or Deeney play like that. Ighalo plays on the shoulder of the last defender and Deeney is a strong, target man with good feet. Pace and dribbling are not his assets.

Agree with that but what I really meant I think they could form a partnership that could be dangerous like those two in the champ last season.

So polo if you think saadi and watt wont work, what pairing would you like to see upfront for cardiff and which pairing do you think would get the most goals? Adding a target man possibly weghorst into the equastion.

Also i see saadi a player similar to deeney and ighalo, pace power strength and quality all their attributes. I think saadi can easily make a target man because he has strength and power, i dont think you need to be a tall striker winning headers all the time to be a succesfull target man and striker, other attrtibutes are more important imo like pace power strength good feet.

Rydogsccfc I hope you are right regarding Saadi being the answer but honestly how anybody can say he will a success is beyond me with the little any of us has seen of him playing, if I'm being honest its a bit of wish full thinking but as I stated I hope you are right or are you just :digging2: yourself a hole :sladeout:
