Iain Moody is back in football 16 months after resigning at Crystal Palace
Moody was reported to the FA over in text messages with Malky Mackay
He has now set up Sapienza Football Consulting to seal his comeback
Iain Moody has made a return to football for the first time since he was forced to resign as Crystal Palace's director of football following damning Sportsmail revelations.
Moody's position became untenable after it emerged he had been reported to the Football Association for sharing racist, sexist, anti-semitic and homophobic messages with Malky Mackay.
Mackay, who was out of work when the messages were uncovered, has since made a comeback, taking over at Wigan Athletic in a largely unsuccessful five-month spell.
He was brought in to the club to stave off relegation from the Championship, but was sacked in April last year shortly before they went down.
Moody has now set up Sapienza Football Consulting to reignite his involvement in the game once again. He is offering his experience and insight at football clubs to others, having worked in the Barclays Premier League and the Championship.
Moody indicated he had nothing to say on the matter when contacted by Sportsmail. It has been 16 months since he left Crystal Palace, back in August 2014.
Moody worked as Mackay's head of recruitment at Cardiff City, where they won promotion to the Premier League, during which time the messages were exchanged.
They also worked together at Watford and were close to being reunited again at Crystal Palace before the scandal broke and the club opted not to appoint Mackay as their manager and Moody then quit.
The FA spent 11 months investigating the allegations before deciding that they would take no action against the pair but warned them 'about the inappropriateness of terms used in the messages.'
FA disciplinary chiefs concluded that 'the communications were sent with a legitimate expectation of privacy.' Their verdict drew widespread criticism from stakeholders in the game.
