Should City give Free tickets out to under 16's?

The reason for yet another post on the stay away fans, is because the media have done a big thing on it today, City are discussing season tickets for next season and the crowds have not improved at all this season, in fact got worse.

Annis I just can't get up the energy to bother I've been to 2 home games and 1 away all season I look at the fixture list and bar Bristol city and maybe wolves away will not bother.
Even when we were in div 2 it was great (old div 4) been watching city solidly since 1976 the club has lost its whole identity and it doesn't feel like Cardiff city anymore, I have lots of respect for all city fans but we need a new manager maybe some decent signings and things might look up. We need some direction or it will get worse in the coming seasons
Sad really but there you are. :bluebird:

I understand totally where your coming from.

A City fan today said to me, that he supported us through all the real bad times, yet when the good times arrived the club not only forgot their loyal fans they just continued to push and push them away during the last 4 years and then in the end you just say enough is enough, you loose interest and then get out of the habit of going.

In my humble opinion ... it has nothing to do with tan, rebrand, red now blue shirts or whatever the agenda crew will have u believe ...it's the fact that the club seems to be treading water , not going anywhere.
We have had no investment or none to really mention in the past 12 months or more nothing for the fans to get excited about .Nothing to prove to anybody that the club is truly moving forward and that promotion is the aim ... Russel slade is less than inspirational, a small minded manager for what Is turning into a small minded club ... all this blue in league 2 nonsense was just that nonsense, people want to see success regardless of dare I say it shirt colours or even mad owners ....27000 in the prem in red ... 10000 in blue in the championship not saying I agree but those are the facts ....

Re: Cardiff fans:Why are you not attending Bluebirds' games?

It's a habit going to football, I know loads of city who have stopped going since we moved, since the rebrand, since the premier league season, and they were going week in week out they don't miss it.

All the above plus,

Stewarding
Cost
Food
Club taking us for granted
Fan against fan
Away support treated better
Negativity throughout club
Same old excuses for most things with no improvement
Lack of leadership at club

Defo big reason people being mugged off, the red shirt and rebrand nonsense that was a kick in the teeth but agree no momentum as a club

Boring boring football my reasons are Slade and no ambition at all by the club now Rick Wright had ambition Sam had ambition even the riddler had ambition now there is none

Re: Cardiff fans:Why are you not attending Bluebirds' games?

Mon Jan 04, 2016 7:54 pm

Boring football
No atmosphere
Stadium does not carry sound well
away fans too far away to get banter going
Rebrand started the drift
Connection lost
Too civil these days, lost its edge now we are a family club

The kids under 16 won't go for free if the team is playing boring football and there is no back up atmosphere....

Re: Cardiff fans:Why are you not attending Bluebirds' games?

shame on the fans for leaving when the club needs them most. and thats the club not a owner or manager.
ill be there thick and thin. good times will allways feel better whwn you have been through the bad times

Re: Cardiff fans:Why are you not attending Bluebirds' games?

Mon Jan 04, 2016 8:00 pm

It was the fans for me.

You could say it is a legacy of the rebrand but not BECAUSE of the rebrand, it was the fans reaction to it.

Sides were taken and there were extreme over reactions on both sides I witnessed as side to fans that was appalling with the bullying of children being the most extreme of it all.

Some things you cannot return from. I moved locations to see if it would help but the damage had been done.

40 odd years of season ticket purchasing ended and I did not even see out the second half of the Premier League season.

Football is just entertainment but some of the fans elevate the sport to a level that should only be set aside for family.

It was time for a new pastime. Football attendance is habitual and it seems not going has become just as much of a habit.

The number of glory hunters is not what matters. The only thing they will bring to games is a face in the crowd.

We are losing/have lost the real fans that actually create an atmopshere.

It was because of the rebrand. And the fact tan openly lied to the fans

I said yesterday that the early reapplication for seaosn tickets in the premier league and our relegation caused a large amount of fans to lose interest. We all paid a premium, in good faith. "Join the Olerevolution". Remember that crap. And then we went down. But don't worry guys, we'll cost cut now. That'll do the job.

And to be honest, for all the defenders of tan saying that he has put the money in.....Our finances are nothing other than murky. No one has a clue what tans is going to do. No one trusts him. He is a businessman and we are simply numbers and money to him. Until he leaves and someone owns us that the fans actually trust, I think lots think we are papering over the cracks and simply waiting for tan to sell/ mug us off.

Tan has lied to the fans before "we will not change our colour" " we will not change our badge". And he has been completely silent for how long?. Compare him to tony fernandes and others. I think the silence is important - he has nothing good to say.

The one reason I hate going is because I am sustaining tans continued involvement. I would be happy for him to stay. But he treated us like turd before, and I simply dont trust him.

It tells you his motives with the fact he hasn't been (am i wrong?) once this year.

I had season tickets when we were bad and when the kids were younger. We nearly made it a few times and kept the ninian atmosphere going on occasion. We got promoted and I had a season ticket, good stuff. Then all the red shirt stuff got boring and embarrassing on occasion (Sian Branson).

Been twice away and once home this season and the away games are great as usual but home games have no atmosphere and the club alongside the team do little to generate it.

Therefore the single match day ticket is not worth it as a family. So I do other things and rarely feel like I have missed out.

In my basic fag packet maths, let's do something completely different due to the size of the stadium...

At present its 15,000 x £20 average price paid = £300,000 gate.

Why not charge an average of £10 a ticket and do away with season tickets....

32,000 x £10 = £320,000

Recreate the atmosphere, get the place rocking, get the team performance lifted. Supporters buy more food and merchandise to cover extra police and staff. When we get promoted put the price up.

Alternative = half empty stadium treading water.

I think it is a 2 way relationship... shame on Tan for robbing us of seeing City the Bluebirds in our rightful colour when we made it to the Premier.

We were fans following our club for 20/30/40 years or more and tread on our values and didn't care at the time

A lot of fans have stopped going for the reasons stated rather than being in the Championship

Firstly i will renew my ST regardless the price however that is good news that the Club are discussing ST and hopefully they will be reduced because if they don't reduce them we could lose more support. The Rebrand has been and gone now so no excuses on that one. I don't think it is unattractive football, although it is dire at times, we have also been playing some decent football, only not for 90 minutes. Slade and Tan will put some people off, however IMO we are following Cardiff City regardless who is in charge. So i think our Fan base just grew with our success and they have now gone due to our lack of success, which is sad because you should support your team through both the good and bad times. :bluescarf: :ayatollah: :bluebird:

The football served up by Slade is dire. Rebrand upset thousands and ripped heart out of club. Cost of going is expensive (tickets are better priced this season)-I took my youngest on Saturday with my other 2 and at half time he wanted sweets. 2.80 for a bag of maltesers. Rip off.

The only way forward is to get rid of Slade and bring in a manager that wants to play attacking football. Cut season ticket prices to £200 for adults, £50 for kids and £100 OAPs/students. Match day tickets should be a tenner. Food and drink should be reasonably priced. Use upper ninian stand to give out free tickets to schools across South Wales. Get rid of Wayne Nash and sort stewarding out to recreate a half decent atmosphere.

Re: Cardiff fans:Why are you not attending Bluebirds' games?

I've missed quite a few games this year and the reasons for me are:

1) lack of direction and clear message from the club. What are our aims and targets? Is it just cut costs and survive in the division...

2) last year the football was absolutely dire! I think it was Rotherham when we drew nil nil and didn't have a shot on goal. I've got a busy job and three kids, do I have the time or will to watch paint dry that takes four or five hours out of my weekend. This season is not much better.

3. It is not cheap and in this day and age you have to choose where you spend your money and where the value is. As an example sky package for the family for the year or season ticket. Remember, football is an entertainment game. You have to be thrilled, there have to be highs and there'll be the lows that make the highs better, but what we get is the mediocre, this is death by a thousand cuts.

4. Players who lack effort and earn a fortune... Jones et al.

5. I've not slated Slade until recently, yes the odd game but recently we don't have a plan... We settle for average as I believe Slade is.

6. Blue, red, blue I'll be honest hasn't been the reason I've turned away. I love the fact we're blue again by the way. Its about enjoying what you're seeing and having fun... We see average and no direction. I'd rather the club come out and tell us their plans we're adults we can take it!

Hat's off to the loyal supporters who are there every game home and away, I really mean that!

200 pound tickets lol clubs in non league pay more lol

Bradford charge similar and get 18,000 every week.

Low ticket prices might not seem to make economic sense but they would help income streams. Merchandise sales would shoot up as would programme sales and other commercial revenues.

all of the reasons already mentioned plus the way the club has chucked our money down the drain by signing players that were on massive wages and then giving them away for nothing in many cases. It shows a total lack of empathy with the fact that us mere mortals have to work hard to earn a fraction of the money that the people involved in football nowadays take for granted. When I see the fruits of my efforts paid in to the likes of KJs bank account every week for so little effort in return, it makes me angry, and I made a conscious decision that I wasn't going to contribute to it anymore after going since 1970. I did relent and go to the Fulham game and was bored stupid so haven't bothered since and am unlikely to in the near future.
