POWELL OPEN TO CHARLTON RETURN

Sky Sports

03/12/15

Former Charlton manager Chris Powell is not ruling out a return to his former club, who are struggling near the foot of the Championship.

Powell spent three spells at the south London club during his playing career, and the former left-back returned to The Valley as manager to guide the team to promotion from League One in 2012, but his three-year spell as Charlton boss came to an abrupt end when owner Roland Duchatelet decided to sack Powell in March 2014.

Three permanent managers have come and gone since then, with Karel Fraeye currently in interim charge of a side sitting second from bottom in the table and facing a relegation battle in the second half of the season.

Asked if he would go back, Powell - out of work since being sacked by Huddersfield two months ago - told Football League Tonight: "Possibly, possibly.

"I would say you cannot walk in ... having four managers in just over 18 months, nothing has changed and actually it is deteriorating."
