Goalscorer Eoin Doyle declared to PNE Player his delight that North End begin 2016 with three points.
North End ended 2015 with a superb 1-0 win away to Hull five days ago, meaning the Lilywhites had the chance of making it back-to-back wins at Deepdale against Rotherham.
Tony Andreu tried to put a stop to that, giving Rotherham the lead 10 minutes before the break, but a change in system at half-time became the catalyst in North End eventually clinching three points.
Doyle levelled proceedings by grabbing his second goal of the season just after the hour mark before an own goal from Jonson Clarke-Harris right at the death gave PNE the spoils just in the nick of time.
“It’s been a great Christmas for us,” said the Irishman.
“But it’s great to come behind and get the three points and it gives us a great start to the year.
