' THE PROBLEMS WITH OUR PITCH '

First of all, I also don't believe the pitches bad condition is due to the few Wales game played at our stadium.

Weather

The weather is no worse than in Swansea but the Liberty doesn't have these problems. The only time there is problems there is when the Ospreys play the day before the Swans and it doesn't allow enough time for the remedial work to take place.

Matches

The Liberty houses more matches than CCS with both the Swans and the Ospreys playing there

Pre Season Wales Games

No excuse the Liberty also houses concerts in the summer and from 12/6 to 1/8 there was still 6 or 7 weeks to relay the pitch.

My understanding is that we are using the same hybrid grass and lighting system as the Liberty and the idea is that these give summer growing systems in the winter. It is like having green house conditions on the pitch. Using this system the grass re grows in 4 days.

Maybe the lights are not being used enough or the underground heating system is not being used enough. Possibly there is not enough groundstaff due to cut backs It is clearly cost cutting that is affecting it.

Hopefully no cost cutting is involved.

Concerts are easier to cater for as you can still remove the pitch and have the concerts go ahead. You cannot remove a pitch and have a football match played on it.

Some of the views on this forum are getting ridiculous.

Annis remember Phil the head groundsman retired at the end of last season, this is the reason I expect, Phil was a very good groundsman

You have lost me on this one. Why do you believe that the pitch problems are not down to hosting the Belgium game in June preventing the normal re-seeding of the pitch which takes longer than the 6 or 7 weeks you refer to? Not sure what grass you are referring to , but I know of no football pitch grasses that re grow in 4 days as you claim following a re-seeding exercise.

What concerts did the Liberty have in the close season in 2015?

why is it cutbacks as only reason feasable for poor pitch? other reasons just as plausible have been stated but that appears to be dismissed as rubbish excuse !! :old:

The liberty is a lot smaller than our ground ,can't help thinking that the higher stands block the sunlight more can the lights be used in heavy rain ?

It must be Slades fault, or possibly Vincent Tan.

Or it could just be an unfortunate combination of weather and circumstances. It's still a helluva lot better than many clubs, and better than it used to be when we shared with the rugby.

Does anyone else remember the Ninian Park beaches of the 60s and 70s :old: ?

You know Wayne Nash don't you? Why don't you ask him or one of your other contacts at the club. I'd be interested to know what is causing the problem.

Where on the pitch was that?

The area behind the goal where the keepers practice was a quagmire but that has no impact on the game.
