New years honors list

Thu Dec 31, 2015 8:03 am

What a load of rubbish most of these awards are.....most of them awarded to people who attended public schools, friends of politicians and ex politicians, payoffs for services rendered such as Lynton Crosby, the Australian political strategist who ran the Conservatives' election campaign, is to get a knighthood. And the actors and sports stars who get awards....jesus....Barbara Windsor.....ex friend of the krays.....wife of notorious armed robber ???? made a dame ?

Simon Weston has been awarded a well deserved CBE for his charitable work - people like him are the real "heroes" who deserve recognition, not the politicians, actors and sportsmen/women.

Well done Simon :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

Agree mate.
Lord Kinnock !!!!!
There's even talk of ken Livingston requesting one now, so he can get into Corbyns team.

They big up Barbara Windsor, but as you say she mixed with some dodgy people. Surely a section 14 should be appropriate here?
it is used for us so why not ? ha ha

Some of these sports people ,although doing well, have tax payers funding, so should be performing. No work or bills to worry about. Sir Bradley Wiggins, what a joke. He did well, but a knighthood??
He had one good year, or really a couple of good months?? lol

Congratulations Simon Weston.

And nice to see Bobby Brain from Nelson get an honor, he has raised thousands for many different charities over the years. Well done Bob :ayatollah:

Think its politicians and civil servants who pick them. Must be, as a lot of civil servants get the awards (or knighthoods at least).
They were intended for people who did great deeds for the country, not pen pushing bureaucrats, only famous in their own office.
