Our Squad / Slade Out / Fans returning

Wed Dec 30, 2015 10:38 am

This is my take on it all and everyone has their own take on it.

Our squad is not strong enough in my opinion although all our fans seem to think so.
Apart from a few players we have only average championship players in our squad.

Slade is doing an ok job in my opinion. Its the players that need to break down the defences and its the players should be getting the blame and not the manager. For the Slade out brigade - Ask yourself who wants to become the next Cardiff manager on £100000 roughly a year who has to cut players and wages and then gets booed for not winning.

As for fans returning if Slade is sacked is total rubbish. They are not going to return and have fallen out of love with the match day experience at the CCS.
Modern football and prices suck.
Premiership is the only reason for fans to come back and NOT the sacking of Slade.
Our fans wanted Slade sacked before he even joined us, because he wasn't classed as a top manager.

Good post and people seem to forget slade has his hands tied by tan so the next manager will be no different which is why we ended up with slade to start with, I never wanted slade or tan at the club but it's not me who calls the shots.

I'm just a customer currently :bluescarf:

It is far from an average championship squad. Derby, Boro, Hull and Burnley have the 4 best squads hence they are the top 4 but I'd put our squad up against the rest of the division and we should be up there in 5th / 6th given our squad.

We have international players, players with premier league experience, and players who've been promoted from this division and not just with Cardiff but other clubs too.

There's managers up around the play offs getting the most out of their squads Hughton, Mcarthy and in particular Rowett at Brum, now that's what you call an "average" squad and then there's Slade who isn't getting the best out of his squad.

I agree there will be no thousands returning even if Slade goes. The match day experience in general is poor at the CCS and it's not cheap anymore.

Good post and agree. I don't want slade as our manager but a change in manager even if BellAmy won't increase attendance.

Match day experience - nail on head

I was hoping to get something to eat in the Sand Martin before the game last night. The place was packed so had to miss out. I decided to get something in the stadium just to bridge the gap. When I saw the prizes I suddenly lost my appetite.

Most who know me know I'm not a penny pincher. However there comes a boundary that I just cannot cross and those prices are well beyond that boundary.

This Club has bent over backwards to give visiting fans a LOVELY Match day experience, welcoming them with open arms, destroying any possibility of an atmosphere with home fans so What about now concentrating on OUR match day experience which for most of us is bloody awful? Sterile Stadium, Soulless Stadium, Players with no desire and nothing, absolutely nothing to tempt the missing thousands to come back! Wake up City and start working out what's needed to keep the diehards who remain, the so called "Customers" and then make decisions that will win back our stayaways. There is no chance of any sort of atmosphere currently with probably less than ten thousand actually in the Stadium and from my experience recently only The Canton makes any attempt to sing. Very poor and very sad to have seen the decline.

The fans will only return when Tan goes or if we are winning games FACT!

As fans perhaps we should ask the Club's hierarchy what their aspirations are? From where I was standing last night it looked like a very average team playing another very average team, neither of which are likely in my opinion to get promoted or relegated.Another season of mid table safe obscurity methinks is all we have to look forward to and probably a further decline in attendances.Aspirations?

I think reducing the debt and consolidating the play offs which makes the managers job nearly impossible. Bournemouths squad apparently was about a million pounds last season.

The squad is good enough for automatics . Just break it down then look at other squads in the league. This is not an average championship squad . Just a very talented squad which is poorly managed .

Marshall - Current Scottish #1 and widly regarded as the best keeper outside the premier league

Simon moore - England u21 goalkeeper

Bruno Manga - 5 million pound signing from France captain of his country

Fabio - Brazilian international full back who has played in a champions league final

Turner Morrison and connelly are all very experienced defenders who most clubs at this level would kill to have in the squad

Gunnersson - leading his country to a major tournament as captain of Iceland and former premier league player

Dikachoi - international and former premier league player

Pilkington, noone, Okeefe, are all former premier league players

Joe Ralls - one of the best upcoming young players in the championship

Peter Whittingham - regarded and voted as one of the best midfielders in the championship over the last 6/7 years .

Kenwyn Jones - captain of his country and a very experienced goal scorer at the top level

Kiko macheda - schooled at Man utd , former premier league and international player . Was top scorer in the championship a few years ago before injuries

Sammy ameobi - On loan very talented premier league attacker

Add to that the on loan players and fringe players . It adds up to a very good squad that is under achieving.

There were two rows of regulars sat with us since the stadium opened all continued season tkt holders from Ninian park!

Now there are just 4 faces in those two rows, I've spoken to some and they all say they won't renew after an awful season last yr under Slade! Not just the match experience but what was bein served up on the pitch!

Some of them havnt been at all this season, yet have been watching city for a long time!

I bet with a managerial change it would bring renewed optimism and the fans would come back!

You say everyone has their own take on things,so I'm sure you won't mind when I say I think your take on things is the same nonsense we have come to expect from Slade apologists
