Too deep with little help

Correct, same with Pilkington at MK Dons. Ralls has started to play the game Whitts does but his range of passing is nowhere near. Also, Whitts style of play doesn't work in our 442 system to stop it please Joe.

Whitts must be such a conundrum for Slade.

I thought Ralls was having a shocker and looked a little lost, its one hell of a responsibility to be the playmaker and whilst he has been doing it we haven't done that well, results wise.

Whitts comes on, Ralls moves further upfield looked like he grew 5 inches and started playing like Joe ralls again, But Whitts is not athletic enough to be a CM in a 442, and we all know Russ doesn't do change.

Some of those passes, well even the haters will have to leave this thread alone.

Personally I think Whitts is passed his best now when he came he did improve Ralls but other than that we seemed to have slowed down when he came on.

We owned the ball, its not slowing it down.

Perhaps the title of the thread should have been "Are Ralls & Gunnar good enough to be CM's in the championship ?"

Because a point a game doesn't say they are !!!!

You are spot on.

Same with Manga last Saturday. If that was Morrison that got skinned for their winner you'd have Tonteg on here calling him and OGS all sorts.

Conollys another one gets off lightly. He was also at fault for their goal tonight and several goals in this poor run of late.

It was Ralls who gave away possession for them to score, haven't been impressed with him for the last 3 games.

Ralls lost possession and Conolly gave the lad way too much time and space to shoot.

I think it's time people stopped comparing Ralls to Ramsey.

My view tonight
Gunnarson started well and will always battle but he lacks composure on the ball and gave the ball away far to often and his game deteriorated as a result ...... he would have been replaced anyway despite his injury
Whitts gives us composure on the ball and is the best passer at the club , but he is not a battler and not the future and I can see why different players have been tried in midfield
When Dikgacoi is fit he can comfortably play the deep role , with Ralls further forward to get the best out of him
Pilkington as wide midfield player came inside far to often and bottled up the area where Watt has been impressive so far for us ...... if you stay out wide someone has got to mark you and will stretch their defence
We have some good players but getting the balance right has been problem for us

I would've kept Gunnar and Ralls on when Whits came on put an extra man in midfield because Gunnar was having a good game and Ralls did improve when Whitts came on and probably would've helped us get that goal instead of putting Ameobi on Jones should've went off for Macheda well should've been dropped for Macheda.

Exactly what I said to my grandson when Joe Ralls made that mistake but as regards JR it happens to ALL players and I hope the lad forgets about it quickly.

Surely even the Whitts bully boys, and there are plenty on this board, could see the difference in JR once he was able to move 15 or 20 yards further upfield following Whitts introduction. Surely they would also have noticed the quality of passing Whitts introduced into the game but I won't hold my breath on that one.

always is. This is why he offers us nowt anymore. He sits nice and deep sprays balls to flanks but leaves the rest of the attackers to it as hes too far back

What's happen to Dikgacoi ? Is he injured because I can't remember reading anything ?

Just look at the stats since Gunarsson came in for him in terms of goals conceded and points gained.

Whitts and Dikgacoi worked and even if you don't like Whitts then Ralls would benefit from Dikgacoi being there, as would the centre backs.

people around me in the ninian stand were slating whittingham's freekick or corner can't remember what it was, but didn't beat the first man, but before all that Whitts passes were brilliant and he doesn't get the credit for it, some people seem to be waiting for him to make a mistake so t they can moan at him. I said to my old man when ralls cost us the goal with that awful pass I said how come no-one is jumping on Ralls back for that I said if that had been whitts he would of been given dogs abuse.

Yes, because we also had Ralls playing wide and Mason upfront

Oh well, never let the full facts get in the way of a Whitts slag fest

We don't need both of them in the team but we need one of them as they are far more comfortable on the ball than the rest of our CMs.

Given Digi can't even make the bench in front of O Keefe it looks like he's out if the picture so at home on Saturday is go 4-1-2-3 as follows

Marshall

Fabio Manga Conolly Malone
..............Whitts
....Gunnar.........Ralls
Noons......Jones........Watt

Away from home I'd prob bring in pilkington for Jones and go

Marshall
Fabio Manga Conolly Malone
............ Whitts
No one Gunnar Ralls Pilkington
..............Watt
