Leeds officials stopped Sky TV from entering Elland Road with their cameras on Monday, to stop them screening Tuesday night's Championship game.
It is the ninth time a Leeds league match has been picked for live coverage and it is set to kick off at 19:45 GMT.
Leeds owner Massimo Cellino told staff to ban the cameras as he feels the team feature on TV too often, causing a negative effect on attendances.
Football League officials are trying to resolve the situation.
"The League has been made aware that Sky personnel have been unable to access Elland Road as previously arranged," a Football League spokesman said in a statement.
"We have contacted Leeds United to remind the club of its obligations to our broadcast partner and to ask them for their observations."
Leeds have been contacted by the BBC for a reply but are yet to respond.
This is also the ninth time Derby have been chosen for a live match. Nottingham Forest have already been shown on TV on nine occasions, the most for any Championship club this season.
Preston, Brentford, Bristol City, Charlton, Rotherham and MK Dons have been on the television twice.
The former owner of Italian side Cagliari, Cellino is waiting for an appeal date to contest a second Football League ban for breaching its Owners' and Directors' test following a tax evasion conviction in Italy.
He will not be present at Elland Road on Tuesday and has left the enforcement of his ban with other staff

BBC Radio Leeds commentator Adam Pope
"Massimo Cellino feels the current deal strangles the club, the supporters and the players in their preparation, logistics and attendances. He is no stranger to challenging football's authorities and wants to negotiate TV rights individually, rather than as a collective unit.
"It is estimated that Championship clubs get about £100,000 when a home match is moved for television as compensation to cover for fewer fans going to the game. That amount works out at about 3,500 supporters paying an average of £30 a ticket. It will be interesting to see the attendance against Derby.
"The Football League has not revealed what the potential punishment could be if Sky are not able to televise the game, whether that be a fine or a points deduction."
"In Italy, Cellino moved Cagliari's home games, so it is not unusual for him to behave like this. Leeds are unbeaten in five games, yet Cellino has thrown a very public spanner in the works."

He's an absolute nutter but this is a totally justifiable action by Mr Cellino in my opinion

Surely this is simply the result of market forces in the commercial era that football has sold its soul to??
Leeds are fully signed/paid up members

That is true but the amount of Leeds games that have been selected is absolutely shocking. Usually, a game being shown live on TV doesn't cater for the fans anyway. The kick-off time usually gets brought forward or made into a late kick off which means that some fans aren't able to attend the re-scheduled event...
I'm sure that Leeds didn't expect there to be so many TV appearances this season so far and we're only just over half way through the season. Our fans wouldn't be happy either if we were in this situation. Mind you, our attendances are shocking without the game being on TV

So is he going to give any money from the TV deal (including the money for finishing in a specific position) back to Sky
Without these huge TV rights a lot of clubs throughout the leagues would struggle even more than they are doing.
Work it out, £100K is 4000 fans paying £25 a ticket, do Leeds really have that many fans swayed by whether a home game is on TV or not ?

Exactly. Sky and BT Sport do a great coverage of football.

I think he's spot on Sky are killing the game and killing the game in the local leagues as well yes I like live football to a point but I rather see grounds full as well players prefer to .leeds United as much as I dislike them to there credit they are still a big draw that's why sky like to show there games I still look out for the leeds fixture at the start of the season simply one of the better fixtures and always bring good support

Leeds wouldn't be getting on their high horses if this was Premiership-level TV money being spoken about.
That said, it's ridiculous how many games they've had affected by TV, and I don't understand why there aren't more controls in place to avoid such an imbalance?
