Update: Motörhead have confirmed Lemmy’s death in a Facebook post. “There is no easy way to say this…our mighty, noble friend Lemmy passed away today after a short battle with an extremely aggressive cancer,” the band wrote. “He had learnt of the disease on December 26th, and was at home, sitting in front of his favorite video game from The Rainbow which had recently made it’s way down the street, with his family.”
Absolute Music legend. First saw Motorhead in Cardiff Sofia Gardens on Ace of Spades Tour.
He got me and a mate backstage at the Reading Festival 1982 after picking up on our Welsh accents.

Saw him when he was with Hawkwind, can't remember where but I think it may have been Penarth. Rock legend.

A true rock legend for sure.
With Philthy Phil having died earlier in the year things are about to get loud in heaven!
RIP Lemmy.

Top, top bloke who was the most genuine "star" I have ever met.
Generous with the beers and his time, whilst he didn't suffer fools gladly, you will be hard pushed to find anyone who met him have a bad word to say against him.
His music may not have been to everyone's taste, I loved it !!, but most people have heard of Lemmy.
Sad day for rock/music fans.

Motorhead was the first gig i ever went to. Sophia Gardens in Cardiff on the Ace Of Spades tour. My ears were ringing and i had a big smile on my face all the next day in school.
Lemmy one of the few who truely led the rock star lifestyle.

Seems like most of us are from the same generation. I saw Motorhead numerous times at the old Sophia Gardens and at the Portsmouth Guildhall when I was a student. Always came out with my ears ringing!
RIP Lemmy ... Rock legend

The 'Ace Up Your Sleeve' tour in 1980 at Sophia Gardens was the first 'proper' gig I saw as a youngster, ears ringing for days and always remember seeing the Bomber lighting rig there. A very unique musician and a decent bloke with it. He and they deserve more recognition than they have been given for sure. Seen them countless times since and would have loved to heard him once more.
RIP Lemmy

That would be a nice touch - they used to play a track a few seasons ago. We've often debated on here what would be perfect pre-match music and is doesn't get any better than Motorhead to get the blood flowing. Bomber/Overkill or Motorhead for me would be perfect.

First gig I went to as a spotty teenager was Hawkwind when Lemmy was with them. R.I.P, a true rock legend.

They played a bit of The Game tonight at half-time. Best part of my night.
