I remember the time a black fella along with another guy in a long leather coat got an absolute hammering against the fence at the bottom of the Bob bank. Must have been around 78/79 I reckon. About 10 minutes earlier, a kid of around 15 walked amongst the City boys in the middle of the Bob bank and he started calling on anyone who fancied a pop at him - I'm West Ham, I'm in your end, do something about it' he shouted. About 100 city fans moved away from him, forming a circle, then one guy maybe a year or two older, went in and gave him a right going over. The Hammers fan then promptly left the Bob with his girlfriend alongside him!!!
I remember it like yesterday. Not sure of date but it was an evening kick off

He was a lump of a bloke and the first few into him he belted but he was engulfed and ended up having a right kicking. He was lucky there was so many trying to hit him as most of blows were hitting each other lol. One of the b troop broke his own leg. The black fellow was lucky the police saved his Arse.

'Twas at the front of the Bob. Can remember a guy literally lying on the top of the fence trying to escape before being pulled back by the city fans.

Sorry mate, didn't mean to come across arsey or anything. Think I remember one of the black fellas pals getting up on the fence for a quick exit.
You are right, they seemed to come in from the Grange side of Bob but ended up a bit more towards the middle
