' I SEE HOPE IN THE NEW YEAR '

Mon Dec 28, 2015 9:22 am

An opportunity for Russell Slade and Cardiff City presents itself over the next two games.

City play hosts to Nottingham Forest and Blackburn in their next two matches, both of these must be seen as winnable games.

Whilst City have the luxury of playing both games at home over the course of four days, they have had an extra day to recover since their last game unlike Nottingham Forest.

City's immediate targets in the league will be those teams who separate City's current eighth place position and a place in the top six.

Sitting one place above the Bluebirds are Sheffield Wednesday, who are on a good run of results, but The Owls face two tricky away games, Championship chasing Middlesbrough and Fulham, who have a newly appointed manager.

Ipswich who occupy the final play off spot, face a more difficult couple of games when they play away to Brighton and Burnley, both teams sit above the Tractor Boys in the league.

I expect that after the first round of fixtures in the New Year the four point gap that currently separates us and the top six will be reduced and I am hopeful that we will find ourselves in the play offs, the roller coaster of Cardiff City continues.

If the points difference is not reduced, or worse is extended, then it will be disastrous for Slade's hopes of a play off position in May.

I see mid table mediocrity :(

The next two games we should win, there's no doubt about that.

But then we would have said the same about MK Dons away.

Slade desperately needs a run of results.

You have obviously drunk more than I have!

To keep hoping and wishing is fruitless.

You should be Blunt and forthright, it's not being unkind.

Slade and his back room staff out :bluescarf:

I see a frustration time ahead.

I can see our season coming to an end with mid table expectations. Slade position will become unattainable but the club will hang onto him until the end of the season causing more frustrations.

We should beat Forest at home, and our players have had one more day than Forest to get over the last game. On paper we may have a few winnable games ahead of us, but we have had plenty of those already, and did'nt win. I admire the eternal optimists on here who still think this team can get promoted via the play offs, but I am afraid that they are living in la la land, and the chances of us being anywhere other than the Championship next season are on a par with me finding live pixies at the bottom of my garden.

It's funny how fans see 'hope' differently.

I see hope over the next two games as losing so that Slades gets the sack.

If indeed we win the next two games for me just prolongs the agony of a Slade team.

Even if we win the next two games it doesn't paper over the cracks that Slade is inadequate at this level. And actually it's not about league position, its about limited progress on the playing side and the inevitable that small successes under Slade will be followed by a dramatic dip in form.

We can beat Forest and Blackburn the problem is with Slade when you want him to fail he gets a result. :laughing6:

Win these two games and there's a good chance we'll be in 6th.

However, if I was a betting man I think we'll be fortunate to get 3 points.

You'll have to try harder than that if you want to put a positive spin on things here Carl. It seems that only the miserable negative sods can be bothered to post at the moment. It's football, and it's frustrating at times but I'd rather be in our position than some of the other Championship clubs. Let's be glass half full people in the New Year. If some of the miserable sods would like to contact me I can recommend so books on CBT to give them a more positive outlook on life! :bluebird:

The previous 2 games were as easy as a chance to get 6 points as we will get all season.

Of course these 2 home games are winnable.

Every game is winnable. But no more than at Birmingham who had 2-3 of their top players out and hadn't scored at home for ages. The penalty error was not the reason we lost; it was due to the hopeless final ball and finishing.

More of the same at MKD. Should have been 3 up at half time.

The club need a fresh manager and coaching set up. there is still time this season, 23 games to go.

It has to happen very soon though, a win tonight would be nice but would only be cosmetic.

I don't think we have been playing boring in the last month at all. We were playing defensive and getting results but the fans wasn't happy because football is a "entertainment" business. Now we are playing the better football that the fans said they wanted but ever since we have been playing more attacking football we haven't been picking up results and now the fans are complaining that football is a "results" business. There is no consistency from our fans or our players whatsoever the only thing consistant about Cardiff at the moment is slades teams selections
