Slade tells Bluebirds players gap to Ipswich in sixth place must be closed with immediate effect as his side get ready for Nottingham Forest clash.

Cardiff City boss Russell Slade has demanded his Bluebirds players bridge the gap developing between themselves and the Championship play-off positions with immediate effect.

Almost perversely, Slade’s Bluebirds rose from ninth to eighth despite losing 2-1 to lowly MK Dons... but the points difference between them and sixth-placed Ipswich has grown to four.

Slade has told the dressing room that gap must be closed at once, starting with Tuesday night’s home clash with Nottingham Forest.

The top two of Derby and Middlesbrough already look out of sight for Slade’s gifted squad, meaning the play-off positions are an absolute must for the Cardiff hierarchy.

“We said in the changing room after the MK Dons game that we’ve only got to wait a few days to respond,” said Slade.

“Forest is another important game for us. We put a lot of importance in the games running to the end of the year and there are three more points up for grabs before we go into January. Three more important points for us. Huge in fact.

“We need to get that four point gap back and get it back quickly. We need to address that very quickly at this stage of the season.

“It’s a critical time, I’m not hiding under a rock. This time of year it’s important to be right in there and we do not want to be slipping away from things. Forest is very much the next step to us doing.”

Cardiff are looking to do the double over Forest in the Welsh capital after triumphing 2-1 at the City Ground in the Championship back in August.

How the f**k can people be happy spending money to watch what is being served up! 3 weeks ago it was we are in the play offs, then we are 3 pts off play offs, today it's we are only 4 pts of play offs, we are also only 5 pts off 16th! 2 or 3 losses could drop us right down, 2 or wins could push is up!

This league is that close and poor this year with nobody really putting a decent run together! It is there for the taking but how can we be happy with the performances over the last so many weeks? 3 home games running we fucked up a 2 goal lead only to scrape it against Brentford! Away we have been poor! We have not done well against the likes of Rotherham, mk Dons, Bristol city & Preston who were sitting in the bottom 4 at the time! The Leeds away result? We havnt moved on from last season, just the league is that much poorer....

Look at Derby and Boro and how much they spent.. Burnley also spent a bit. Brighton been very good and playing attractive stuff. Sheffield Wednesday are looking better this season.. Ipswich carrying on the same team and form from last season.
