Where exactly are we as a club right now ?

Sun Dec 27, 2015 12:59 am

Given Mr Tan's choice to simply ignore his club's fanbase, along with him seemingly content to keep an under qualified manager who is clearly failing at this level, I wonder what direction (if any) we are heading in as a football club ?

I think we can safely say there is absolutely no chance of us going down from where we are right now with our current squad.
Unfortunately we do have a manager who seems to be the grand master of wrong decisions, wrong tactics and wrong selections, who makes out in his press conferences that everything was just bad luck and nothing at all to do with him !

In theory, given the club's owners fabulous wealth, we do seem to have a lot more going for us than many other clubs, but it does appear that the failure to take us forward are the reasons why not just the newbies but long term City fans are staying away in their thousands.

We are were we belong, we are a mid table championship side. Our owner has got bored with our club and is probably looking to offload us at the 1st opportunity.

Slade was bought in to do two jobs, keep us in the championship and cut the wage bill and he has done both, don't be surprised if 4 or 5 players leave or are loaned out in the next month or so I will not be shocked if Marshall is sold along with Jones and Fabio and Connelly are loaned out. All this talk of us bringing in players to push for promotion is a smoke screen I just see Watt as the only player coming in.

Maybe in the summer Slade will go, not before then.

We are a small championship club (by attendance standards), hoping to staying in the championship each season and play some bigger clubs each year such as Wolves/Leeds/Sheff Wed etc, and get through a couple of cup rounds and play a premier league club every now and then. That's what type of club we are, we are on a par with clubs like Charlton Athletic and Reading :bluebird:

Agree with everything there. Just to keep us fans believing that the club are trying to progress, every now and again we will be linked with a big name. Trouble is, we will offer £25,000 for a player valued at £5m plus, and then they can use the excuse that it was'nt the club's fault that terms could'nt be agreed, and that the player ended up going somewhere else. We will stumble on through the rest of the season winning some and losing some, and finish somewhere around 12th which is where we were obviously going to end up before a ball was kicked at the begining of the season.

The club is broken and Vinny doesn't knows what to do. He is stuck with us and takes a loss whatever happens.

We are back to our core support which looks different to 10 years ago, but they are here and the others are not.

Slade has done his job, he steadied the ship, but the question is the future. We need a football man somewhere in the decision makers, the next manager can't be a big name manager, its either a punt on a youngster or an oldie trying to prove he still has it.

Whatever the decision it needs to get stay-aways back, its far too big a stadium for 13K.

Bellamy most likely.

The club is an absolute embarrassment on all levels. I honestly don't even see why I should continue showing any loyalty to it when Cardiff City, under Tan, has betrayed and disrespected the fanbase so much. I mean, the guy couldn't even bring himself to apologise properly and just came up with nonsense voodoo crap from his mother. What sort of pathetic man child do you have to be to not own up to your own mistakes like an adult? This is the guy so many of you want as owner just for money. Its crazy. I bet half of you would flog your nan for the right price.

I will never ever respect him because he simply doesn't deserve it. As someone not returning to the UK also I have even less reason or feeling deep down to bother with it anymore. I don't really care how much the delusional denialists want to pretend this is the club they fell in love with but its most certainly not.

The club was in part an embarrassment beforehand but at least we were an embarrassment united on all fronts. It was them vs us and we loved it. We fed off the hate aimed towards Cardiff City. We used it to turn games into hell for the opposition. We used to have a great atmosphere and that was part of the fun, because we would win, draw or lose all together. Since Tan took over and has started being a dictator there's been a poisonous element going right through at all levels. Also, if you think this doesn't filter into the dressing room and affect players then you are kidding yourselves. Nobody wants to work in a toxic environment no matter how much they pretend otherwise.

Cardiff City would have been better off dead because now its Tan's zombified version being systematically abused by a loon with more money than sense who sees it as nothing more than an expensive toy to play with as it suits.

I agree with this!

If not chucking Bellamy in an interim role until end of the season id certainly look towards the likes of Nigel Pearson etc...

As you said, young up and coming manager, just missed JFH, maybe someone like Justin Edinburgh as an examples. Just not an aging dinosaur with over 700 games in charge and not a single trophy or promotion! Not even a johnsons paint trophy! ;)

Or Gareth Ainsworth he is doing good at Wycombe and Justin Edniburgh will prob be in the championship next season with taking Gill up.

We are a badly managed club from top to bottom! Tan is to blame for all this! This city is big enough to have a successful club in either the Championship or even the Premieship! Unfortunately since that lunatic got hold of our great club he's spoilt everything! I long for the days when he's gone and we can build again with a united fan base!

We are a club that is hovering around a play off place alongside a bunch of other crap teams, waiting to determine which crap team will somehow make it into the play offs come May hoping that will be us. All the while we have a fickle fanbase that is currently in a season of limbo waiting for something "good" to happen, moaning at every opportunity along the way.

It's a joy to be a part of.

Where are we exactly as a club?

We have a fair proportion of embarrassing and greedy fans who are blind by what's going on.

We are in a rebuilding process and going through a transitional period and the reason for that is mainly down to Malky and Tan for messing this club up.

We are cutting costs and this all comes down to the idiot who can't spend money wisely Malky.

I personally believe where we are in the table is where I expected us to be, in and around the play offs. We haven't spent much and we are in a strong position where you got teams like Boro and Derby who for me have to get promoted this season otherwise next season it will not be pretty for them. Hull who have kept a lot of the core of their team who took them up and brought in some very good players to add to it. Burnley also.

We beat a top 2 team at home this season and picked up a point away at a very competitive team in Brighton this season.

I ain't saying I love Slade or a huge fan but I can only respect the job he is doing as he is just steadying the club on the field and trying to get us high up the table as possible.

I just can't stop laughing at some supporters who want him out and whinging, it sounds like we are in the bottom 3 it really does and it's embarrassing to read.

Totally agree. Slade has done his part by trimming down the squad and I think he deserves credit because Solskjaer left us in one hell of a mess BUT he's taken us as far as he can in my opinion. I just don't think he has the tactical nous or vision to get the best out of the players we have and take us that step further into the play offs and challenging for promotion.

Someone like Zola would be an interesting appointment.

No doubt Bellers would galvanise the club because his passion is infectious but is he ready to manage a championship club without any coaching or management experience ? Only one way to find out I suppose. :bluescarf: :ayatollah: :bluebird:
