Manager Kenny Jackett has already said he wants to sign new recruits if he is to pull Wolves away from relegation.
Wolves finished seventh lasts season but this campaign has seen them take a step back.
Jackett has been critical of his players and recently explained they type of signing he is looking to make.
“A combination of the players recognising what they need to do to compete in the Championship and then understanding the basics of it and the decision-making process during the course of the game," he said.
Peterborough's Conor Washington is wanted by three Championship clubs
"Then, at the right time, obviously some help from the outside as well is going to be needed, we can see that. Yes, a lot of the players have something and we have a number of good players.
“I do think though they need some help and they need some help during the course of the game, because the decision making, the managing of the game when we’re maybe in front, it just isn’t there at the moment.”
Jackeet is reportedly chasing Peterborough striker Conor Washington - but faces a challenge from Cardiff and Birmingham to land the ace, who has scored 11 goals this season.
Washington could be the Nouha Dicko replacement Jackett has sought for a while and, at 23, the forward is certainly one for the future.
If the Blues fail to secure Conor Washington's signature in January then manager Gary Rowett will have to look elsewhere.
The club have given a trial to German attacker Yonathan Domingos, who played for Waldhof Mannheim in the Under-19 Bundesliga before being released.
Rowett is keen to secure loanee James Vaughn on a permanent deal from Huddersfield Town but is aware the West Yorkshire club are in control of the striker's destiny.
“I have an open mind with him about January,” Rowett said this week. “But obviously that’s dictated by what Huddersfield want to do."
