Morning Annis, i went there four times in the 70's, early 80's to watch the city, down cold blow lane at the old den was certainly an eye opener at the time and fair play to the city fans we kept going where other fans would avoid it.

Morning Paul, The Old Den certainly was a scary place and even the streets around it were far from welcoming.
Your right we always turned up.
Merry Xmas Paul to you and your family

I remember one year (late 70's) where two city fans got stabbed as they got off their coach, not a place for the faintharted
and a merry christmas to you, the wife and the girls

that was a quiet game compared to the cold blow lane one when we went by special train - was that the year Chris Pike scored?
Millwall was one thing, the MET as they opened the big metal gates to let us out were something else!
Especially as many of them were already blooded and bruised

Was this the game where we had a brick thrown through our coach?

I remember getting off at Paddington and when we all made our way onto the street , There were hundreds of Cardiff already waiting for us that caught the earlier train.

It was virtually All lads, the Police Commander said to us at Paddington only an international mob would match this.

1999/2000 season.
I went on a rogue coach which was the only coach to make that trip as everyone was on the trains.Coppers pulled us over early, searched us then chucked us in the ground early. They were serving beer in the ground and we were hoping to be joined by a good number of fellow city fans.Couldn't believe my eyes when everyone started turning up,loads of the old faces were there and we must have had 7-8 hundred lads there that day.Always had a buzz going to both the old den and the new den.Remember Dave Bennett getting some nasty abuse at the old den,he scored twice that day and we beat them 4-0.Coming out of the ground afterwards was mad that day, they attacked our coach with everything they could get their hands on.City always turned up at millwall,no matter what league we were in.

That was a mad day out, especially getting the train back to London Bridge after the game, Millwall had a good go at Trying to get at us and battled with the Police and pelted us with everything, good mob of Cardiff out that day

Wall wanted revenge for the pasting they took under the grandstand in the opening game of that season at Ninian Park.
That day started the serious clampdown on football violence in Cardiff.

The Saturday game we had about 700 to 800 lads.
We came off the train at Paddington or Victoria (can't remember) run amok then back on train to Bermondsy.
Also remember the Tuesday night game when about 250 went
Buses from kings in Canton. All lads.
In the ground singing
"Here for the trouble,
We're only here for the trouble"!!!
f**k we've lost some fans the last few years haven't we

That's the best travelling mob I've seen with Cardiff. Quality throughout & I'd have backed us against anyone that day. You knew you could trust the guys around you.
We were on the first train & holed up in the Pride of Paddington. There were a couple of Spurs lads in there who had been invited along and they were gobsmacked at the quality - and it just kept coming. "f**k me, you're not exactly a family club are you?" made me laugh.
We'd been there a while and a few Brum lads came in, offering to come along as they'd had a recent run-in with Millwall. They were told to "take a look around you and then f**k off - we don't need a hand from anyone" by a well-known face.
Good day all round and topped off on the train home by one of ours (banned at the time), going backwards & forwards along the train with the OB in pursuit - without being able to catch him. Like a scene out of the Keystone Cops for those old enough to remember

Millwall had nothing on Tank and the boys though.
Thu Dec 24, 2015 11:19 pm
I went when we won 4.0 and it was an eye opener, men against boys that day

Me and two mates went to Millwall via London and tube in an auto windscreens match one year maybe 98. Have never been that scared in my life before or since and I've been to Afghanistan.

I remember that game well as I was next to one of the city fans who was stabbed when it happened. I spent a lot of the day sat in high rise tenement blocks avoiding Millwall fans
