' Cardiff City defender set to miss festive games through injury '
22/12/15
Sky Bet Championship side Cardiff City look set to be without defender Sean Morrison for up to a month with a knee injury, according to BBC Sport.
The centre-back has been a key figure at the heart of the Bluebirds defence this season, but limped off in their 1-0 defeat to Birmingham City on Friday night.
The club are waiting on the full extent of the 24-year-old’s injury, but it is thought he could be out for up to “four to six weeks”.
As a result, Toulouse January transfer target Bruno Manga will replace Morrison in the side, and pair up alongside Matthew Connolly.
The Bluebirds were considering recalling Ben Turner from his loan spell with Coventry City, but he picked up an ankle problem in their game against Oldham Athletic last weekend.
Cardiff City have the option to sign a centre-back in January, as manager Russell Slade will be given the go ahead by Malaysian owner Vincent Tan to spend heavily to ensure they remain in the promotion chase.
The South Wales side occupy ninth place in the Championship table, only one point adrift of sixth place Ipswich Town.
The Bluebirds travel to MK Dons on Boxing Day looking to close the gap on the top-six, as they slipped up against fellow promotion chasers Birmingham last week.
