' Latest on Kenwyne Jones Contract '

As City fans were told Kenwyne Jones contract expires at the end of the season and Cardiff have offered Jones a new one.

Jones is believed to be on currently £37,500 basic, running up to £50,000 with bonuses etc.

Apparently City have offered Jones less than half his basic contract, but large bonuses to make up for it.

The strong rumours going around are that Jones has been unhappy in the last 10 days with this new offer?

The media have even stated Jones could be leaving Cardiff in the New Year?

Today Scott Young one of City's coaches said on Kenwyne Jones’ contract saga...

I don’t think it is on his mind, he’s scored two goals recently. He’s been around the game a long time and will be focused on his job.

I would let him go asap.

Can see this happening tbh:

Kenwyne rejects new contract, goes to Sheff Wed for cheap then bangs a few goals in for them which get them in 6th place and us in 7th/8th after failing to replace him with anyone decent.

Dont rate Kenwyne to high tbh but he does bring presence and the odd goal. Could be prolific with a new lease of life in this league.

They should go for Jones who is the same type of player and would be cheaper.

I agree he is lazy but he does chip in with his share of goals, with a more direct style of play he could score even more goals i believe. Can hardly say we play an expansive, attacking style of football yet he still gets the odd goal. Would be afraid to lose him to a team that plays more open.

We should definitely not let him go to a promotion rival, just in case he comes to bite us on the arse..

Yes i read this, looks like they want an outlet type player. Can see Jones being high on that list if they fail to land Adebayor

Surely you wouldnt want him to go to someone who could competing with us for one spot at the end of the year? :?

Ohh looky the donkey Jones is unhappy at receiving £18500 per month which equates to about £25k with tax so £100,000 a month for a lazy overhyped footballer.

Kenwyn f**k off please :ayatollah:

Fair enough, I fear he could be if he went somewhere more direct, would like him of the wage bill if he went to the mls and we reinvest the money wisely

MLS would be the best option for him closer to his home and all the money you can have.

I think he will stay till the Summer and leave on a free, and if the club can get loan fee for him this season they will take the money to fund a signing or two

I'd like him to stay until the end of the season. I think he would suit the MLS and that is likely to be the only place where he gets the sort of money he is looking for.

With the exception of literally a handful of players, MLS players are not well paid and the vast majority are only on a small fraction of what KJ earns here.

ccfcsince62 is spot on regarding wages in the MLS.

http://blogs.denverpost.com/rapids/2014 ... ion/25753/

There are as always exceptions like Jermaine Defoe who was the 2nd top earner last year in the MLS, but as this article shows the majority of Colarado Rapids players earn less a year than KJ does each month.

Even with a contract offer at 50% of what he is earning now it's still likely worth more than any offer in the MLS.

not many players would want to stay at a club that wants to slash their wages, even if its what they would get elsewhere.

i think its goodbye at the end of the season to kenwyne jones.
