Is Slade right to play 442 or do we not have the players capable

Here's a look at the system and it's successes

I have no problem with 4-4-2 except when a manager plays it in every game without fail, whatever the opposition and whatever players he has available to him.

Slade won't even change it to close out a 2-0 lead

4-4-2 can work very well, but very few managers play it and nothing else !!

Personally I think you should only bve playing 4-4-2 if you have lighning quick wingers. We havn't in fact were playing Ralls, Whittingham out there and although Pilkington is a wide player he's not that quick. Noone is ok to play in a 4-4-2 but I would give kennedy a shot as 4-4-2 would suit him.

I have no problem with 442 we just haven't got the right players for it.

Not seen much success with non scoring centre forwards in many 442's. Leicester and Watford's strikers all score goals our don't.

Another point the watford pair are big lads the Leicester pair are both quick and not big, but all are mobile unlike Jones.

Systems are fine if you have good players, good managers find systems for their squad, ours is just stubborn and stuck in his ways, which IMO is outdated.
