Cardiff City keeping tabs on in-form Peterborough striker Conor Washington, according to reports.

Washington has scored nine goals in his last nine games and is also rumoured to be attracting interest from Wolves and Birmingham.

Cardiff City are looking at Peterborough striker Conor Washington amid considerable doubt surrounding the future of Kenwyne Jones.

The Daily Mail report that the Bluebirds are joined in the hunt for Washington's signature by Championship rivals Birmingham and Wolves.

The 23-year-old is regarded by some as the most sought-after striker in the Football League, scoring 11 goals this season with nine in his last 10 games.

He signed for Peterborough from Newport County for £500,000 last year and Posh are likely to command a hefty fee if they are to let one of their most potent attacking weapons leave.

Russell Slade is in the market for a striker after it was confirmed they made an approach to sign Dutch striker Wout Weghorst, with the move likely to be abandoned after his club, Heracles Almelo, demanded a fee in the region of £2.8 million.

The future of Bluebirds striker Kenwyne Jones is still up in the air, with the club hoping he'll take a pay cut in a new deal.

Cardiff boss Slade has expressed his desire to keep the 31-year-old but admits things are out of his hands.

Meanwhile, the club have a deal in place ready to snap up on-loan striker Tony Watt on a permanent deal in January.

The striker has become a hit with Bluebirds fans since his arrival last month and the club are keen to keep hold of him when his loan deal runs out on January 16.

He's a nifty striker, not majorly tall at 5 ft 10 but has pace and eye for goal. I don't think we will pull this one off.

Washington is very lively, and has plenty of pace. We signed him from St Ives Town and he was in the first team a lot quicker than anyone had thought, then off to Peterborough a few months later. I think he'd do well for you, and hopefully we get a big sell-on fee!
