" BRUNO MANGA/ DECLAN JOHN/ TOMMY O'SULLIVAN "

Tue Dec 22, 2015 10:24 am

Bruno Manga, Declan John and Tommy O'Sullivan none of these players in my opinion seem to be wanted by Russell Slade ? ? ?

Manga for me me would be good enough for the Premier League and part of the back bone of City's present team :ayatollah:

John for me deserved a run and has the desire we need and pace :ayatollah:

O'Sullivan I would have played against Shrewsbury in the FA Cup and even had him on the bench when we have had injuries :ayatollah:

It's not so long ago Slade did not want Fabio or Ralls and now they are both fans favourites :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

It's all about Opinions :ayatollah:

I agree on Declan and Tommy, but regarding Manga, he has a load of injury problems, and as Connelly and Morrison were playing ok, you know what Slade is like, only change the team when he has to. once Manga is in the team, Morrison is going to be sitting on the bench

Totally agree , Manga was a class above everyone else on the pitch at Birmingham and I would love to see Declan John and Tommy O'Sullivan given a chance

were ralls and fabio not wanted?

i just thought that they werent in the team at that point in time.

John shouldnt be wanted in fairness as hes not good enough, we will see with o sullivan when he comes back. and Manga will start now.

Manga should be one of the first names on the teamsheet for me.

John i don't see a place for unless we get a tone of injuries, for me he should have been out on loan at the start of the season.

Tommy I think is best getting game time elsewhere than sitting on the bench for us.

Slade does seem to be up and down on who he likes and doesn't, long runs in the team followed by long runs out of it.

I agree that Manga deserves a place before virtually every other player apart from Marshall.

However, are we really saying that Declan John deserves a place before Fabio or Malone  :?

As for O'Sullivan, I haven't seen him play and maybe he should be exposed to first team football via the bench but I would have thought the game time he is getting at Newport can only benefit him. Lampard, Gerrard, Beckham, etc all had spells at lower league clubs that did them the world of good, sometimes you have to look at the end game rather than short-term.

In fairness Annis you keep saying you'd like to see John given a run but where?

You often mention Fabio is one of your favourite players and you gave Malone MoM last game so would you put him in ahead of either of those two or play him on the wing ahead of Noone, Ameobi, Kennedy or even Kadeem?

Hate to say it but think for his own sake he needs to move on he just isn't going to get game time here he is too far down the pecking order.

O'Sullivan needs time before he comes into the side. Look what a season at Yeovil did for Ralls who went away a boy and came back a man.

Manga has been unlucky with injuries this season and the relative good form of Morrisson and Connelly. I think Morriston will struggle to get his place back now though unless there are other injuries.

I think its not a true statement to say Manga is not wanted. He has been out injured for the majority of the season so far and I would agree with Slade's decision to keep Morrison and Connelly in the team as they have done a good job in his absence, if Slade had dropped either of them to slide Manga back in it would have been wrong and sent the wrong message to the players and fans.

The decision to sent O'Sullivan out on loan was sound, giving him first team game time and when he comes back then yes he will be competing for a place in the matchday squad.

Declan John, I dont think he is as good as everyone thinks, he got into the side after Andrew Taylor had a mare himself, I dont rate John, he cant mark a bingo card and would be quite happy to see him go.

NO I am not a Slade Fan. Just my thoughts

Lots giving negative views on Declan John who last played regularly in the Premier league as an 18 year old rookie.

Have they seen him play in the 2 years since ? ...he is 2 years older now. He may have developed into a more rounded player now, yet people want to give him away without even seeing him play.

Remember, he was 18 years old playing in the top league in the world, supposedly playing against some of the best attackers in the world.

He deserves a chance, the same as Fabio and Malone do.

You make a fair point about him having developed but can we really justify having three left backs?

Personally I think he should have gone out on loan to see how he came on playing regularly.

As it is i just can't see him getting into our side and playing for the under 21s won't do him any good at this point in his career so he needs to go for the sake of his own development.

Ideally it'd be on loan with someone lower down in the championship.

Don't get me wrong I'd love to see a local lad in the side but just can't see him breaking into the first 11 this season.

I don't think that Slade never wanted Ralls or Manga as they were one of the first names on the team sheet last season i know he didn't rate Fabio for his defensive abilities but i think Fabio has grown on him because they way he sets the tone of the game and bout O Sullivan I hope Slade gives him a chance because i can see a lot of potential there and loaning him out is just for him to learn his trade. :thumbright: :ayatollah:

O'Sullivan and Barnum Bobb are 2 highly thought of by Slade, a mate of mine spoke to Slade and said he follows their progress a lot at Newport, O'Sullivan is the key one Slade really wants to develop here.. say's he was more than ready to leave the DVP team and had to go to get some proper game time. :ayatollah:

Would you play Declan John before Fabio or Malone at full back?

Where would you rank him out of our wingers:

Pilkington
Noone
Ameobi
Kennedy

Agreed, was quite happy to know Slade has actually spoke about the younger players and what he thinks.

I have been impressed with these two and I'm glad Slade knows about their potential. :thumbright: :ayatollah:

...who has seen Declan play in the past 2 years to have a true opinion on whether he is better than anyone else ?
He has only been seen in the development team, where he has stood out above the others, but how many giving an opinon have actually seen him play since he was just 18 years old ?

Yes he played but did he do that well? not really. He shouldn't have been put in that position really.

No we haven't seen him play but that also goes the other way, does he deserve a place ahead of the current first teams? I so why?

I don't see where he would fit into the first team or why he would be wanted on the bench either.

Manga is different class, its beyond my ability to comprehend why he warranted a place on the sub's bench for such a long time.

Manga WILL be playing regularly due to injuries to Morrison and Turner. So of course he's wanted here? Just been injured on international duty and our CB partnership WAS strong at one point. Declan John needs a loan move and needs to be played as a winger, O'Sullivan needs to remain at Newport for the season.
