League Two strugglers Dagenham & Redbridge have sacked their manager, Wayne Burnett, after winning just 2 of their 22 games this season, according to the club’s website.

Burnett will leave Victoria Road with the Daggers at the bottom of the table, two points adrift of 22nd place York City.

The Daggers board have finally lost patience with Burnett after three consecutive defeats in a row and Warren Hackett and Darren Currie will take care of the first team until a new manager is named.

The owners felt that they needed to act immediately in order to change around the clubs fortunes. Burnett took over at the club back in February 2013 following John Still’s exit to Luton Town.

Burnett led the east London side to mid-table finishes in the last two seasons, finishing 9th and 14th, and worked with one of the lowest budgets in League Two.

Dagenham are without a league win since November 24th and the club statement read: “It is with regret that Dagenham & Redbridge Football Club announces that manager Wayne Burnett has left the club.”

The club will immediately begin their search for a new manager, but an appointment will not be made till the beginning of the New Year.
