Cardiff City confirm they made bid for Dutch striker Wout Weghorst but Bluebirds move unlikely to happen
Cardiff City make offer of more than €1m for Heracles Almelo striker Wout Weghorst, say reports in Holland

Dutch media are reporting Russell Slade is keen to add Weghorst to his Bluebirds ranks after he impressed in the Eredivisie
Cardiff City have made an offer for 23-year-old Heracles Almelo striker Wout Weghorst, according to reports in Holland.
Weghorst, who has scored six goals in 16 games in the Eredivisie this season, was left out of his side's clash with FC Groningen at the weekend, reportedly because of interest from the Bluebirds.
The Dutch media say Cardiff boss Russell Slade has made an offer of more than €1m for Weghorst, a man who has played for his country at Under-21 level.
After making it clear his intention to secure striker Tony Watt on a permanent deal, Slade has been keen to add another striker to his squad in the Welsh capital.
And if the reports on the continent are to be believed, Weghorst could well be heading to Cardiff for the next stage of his career at some point in the next few weeks.
A relatively unheard of name, Weghorst started his career with Dutch side FC Emmen before making the move to Heracles in 2014.
This season, he's helped the club punch above their weight domestically, scoring six times as Heracles have competed with domestic giants Ajax, PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord at the top of the Dutch league.
Heracles sit in fourth place following their 2-1 win over Groningen at the weekend though Weghorst was left out of that game by his manager John Stegeman reportedly because of the interest from Cardiff.

I watch a fair bit of Dutch football and have to say he would make a good addition to the squad though I can only imagine he's being brought in to replace Kenwyn.
He usually plays in a 4-4-3 as this is how Heracles line up with him being the main striker with 2 wing attacking strikers either side of him, he hasn't scored in 4 games, for me doesn't get in the right positions to score as many goals as he can, he's quick for a big guy and holds off players well, if he can step it up and find those pockets of space, he could terrorise defences in this league.

I really hope this guy develops into something special for us but let's not get carried away at this stage and we need to remember:-
1. Five of the six goals he has scored so far this season have been tap ins after someone else did the donkey work and provided a pass across the six yard box for this guy to tap in at the far post. No tap in pass - no goals in last four!!
2. A million euros price tag and the fact that his current team seem dead keen to sell him to us tells a story in it's self.
I hear the words 'Cornelius' 'Cornelius' again but I suppose he is a lot cheaper and not injured so with two out of three I suppose he is worth taking a chance on!!

This is Slade mind 6'5" probably play him as a keeper. A dutch lad who probably hasn't played professionally in a 442 ever, this sound like our Belgium mates scouts. Can't we just have their manager, i don't care who he is, he must be better than Slade.

4-4-3? Do you mean 4-4-2 or 4-3-3?

He is a giant nearly 6ft 6 inches but that is a fee that may be worth the gamble and the sort of money we should have paid for andreas cornelius

Agreed corky what a waste of money he was, hopefully he will be decent if we get him that is

Strange not playing though, another team who must be closer to the fee must be in for him.
Its like someone offering £500k for Joe Ralls or Marshy we'd laugh and not tell the player. A £6 million offer and they probably sit on the bench

Sorry lads meant 4-3-3

We never sign the ones we are linked with in the papers these days.........
Usually they sign for someone else within a few weeks.......

With Waghorst rumour blown off, I can't understand why we haven't looked at Henk Veerman? Dutch league, bigger, stronger, scores more than mere tap ins, is valued less, year younger!?
