' NEW CONTRACT FOR CITY STRIKER? '

Sun Dec 20, 2015 7:17 pm

The club and Jones are currently locked in negotiations over a new contract, with the Bluebirds insisting he takes a pay cut.

He is currently earning £35,000-a-week basics and Russell Slade recently admitted that, whilst he wants the striker to stay, the decision is out of his hands.

Mason,With all the bonuses and Tax, Kenwyne is costing us £50,000 a week, No way worth that, there are better players out there for that kind of money.

I'm very surprised we pay his tax and ni ,I know we would pay employers contributions but I wouldn't of thought that would be 13 k

I know I may be in a minority, but I would try and keep him. Yes he needs a smaller wage.

I just don't under if his wages are 37 k a week then how does it jump up to 50 k as you stated ? As normal paye and ni get deducted off a persons salary ? can you explain why as I'm baffled ? Not an argument with you I just don't understand why city would add the paye and ni to a basic salary as this is not normally done to employees ?

Kenwyne must be one of the highest paid players in the entire Championship.

On his day he can be a real asset and he has the ability to absolutely tear up this division and score over 20 goals easily.

The trouble is that he rarely seems to be bothered to show how good he can be.

If he wants more than £20,000 a week he should be sold or let go.

Can't see a huge queue of clubs wanting to take on his half hearted approach to the game.

You are right Wez. All quoted salaries are gross, just like anyone's. When people talk about their wages they always give their yearly salary as a figure BEFORE tax is deducted.

Annis' is also right Jones is on PAYE as an employee, so CCFC pay his tax. However that tax comes from his £37k wages.

Kenwyne jones' take home wage is nowhere near £37k, its likely to be more around the £20 - £22k mark.

He does cost CCFC £37k though.

Let him go

Mon Dec 21, 2015 10:32 am

Thanks Jones - it's been nice, but you are nowhere near worth 35k a week - more like 7k max - take it or leave it.

Id prefer we just let him go

Just to be pedantic, CCFC do not pay his NI and Tax, they just take it out of his wages and then pay it to the inland revenue

I'm with someone now, your right City are taking the tax out of his £37,500 basic wage a week, but if he plays and scores he costs the club £50,000 gross a week

Bonus for appearances and goals is standard practice but that's crazy. Did we take over the contract he had at Stoke or did he take over odemwingie's contract?

He's not worth being the highest paid player in our squad whatever he's on. Very little effort and inconsistent. For his wages you want 20 to 30 goals and a hatful of assists.

I am sure we would have to pay the employers contribution for NI.

Most Footballers but especially strikers have a goal bonus and maybe an appearance bonus.
