FA Cup: Cardiff's tie with Shrewsbury put back a day

http://www.cardiffcityforum.co.uk/viewt ... 2&t=142949 :thumbright: :ayatollah:

Cardiff City's FA Cup third round tie against Shrewsbury Town has been moved to Sunday, 10 January (18:00 GMT).

The match at Cardiff City Stadium will be shown live on Welsh language channel S4C, with commentary also on BBC Radio Wales and BBC Radio Cymru.

On the same day at 12:00 GMT, BBC Wales will broadcast live coverage of Swansea City's game at Oxford United.

Shrewsbury secured their place in the third round by beating Grimsby 1-0 at home in a replay on Tuesday.

Abu Ogogo scored an injury-time winner as the League One side struggled to overcome their National League opponents.

Cardiff last met Shrewsbury in a Division Three match in 2001, which the Bluebirds won 3-1 with two goals from Scott Young and one from Rob Earnshaw.

This will be the first FA Cup meeting between the two sides.

As the Welsh Language channel are showing the game live and FA rules do not allow TV clashes it is the only time available in the 3 day window .

£2 entry will be the only way to save this embarrassment.

I'd be amazed if we got more than 5000 for that game.

This could be a lower crowd than when we played the likes of Afan Lidp and Maestaeg in the Welsh Cup in the 90s

Even if its free admission cannot see much of a crowd at that time and day

It is live on TV but there is no other time that it can be shown due to contractual reasons .
You cannot blame television given the money they invest in the competition which benefits all .

Record low crowd I reckon for the CCS unless Shrewsbury bring a good number of fans.

You're right, Annis. Bizarrely, though, it makes it easier for me to get to the game!

Could be for some, agreed, but us RCs can go on a Saturday night or Sunday morning! Obligation fulfilled!

I would make this game free with a booking charge as they normally do. Train times leaving after the game could be a problem. Also do Shrewsbury agree on the price also?

Really pissed off about this.

Should still be able to go, but a ridiculous time.

If it was 3pm on a Saturday we may be able to get an OK crowd and they'd bring a good following but not now.

We played leeds at home at the same timeslot in the 2001 3rd round. That was a sell out! What's the difference?

I could have sworn that it was a 6pm or 6:30pm game?
I know that it was dark during the game...

Regardless though, we played against a top 4 Premiership club back then and now we're playing against an average League One club. If we were playing against a top 4 Premiership club instead of Shrewsbury then once again, we would fill our stadium...

Grandstand and Canton open only. Will the both sets of fans hear each other sing?
