Watt wants a future - and Cardiff should give him one

Chris Wathan

It was hard to be overly impressed by the capture of Tony Watt and yet it has been just as hard not to be impressed in what’s he’s offered since his loan arrival from Charlton.

Watt is unlikely to have been a name that rolled off the tongue if Bluebirds supporters were asked which Championship striker they’d want in to spark some attacking life into the side, but with great credit to the young Scot he has done exactly that. He ran himself into the ground against Brentford, Slade’s decision to save his legs ahead of St Andrew’s seeing the side lose their focal point.

He linked the midfield and attack, hungry in his search for the ball and was keen to drive the team forward with the tempo that was painfully missing in that scoreless streak. It goes without saying he is no Usain Bolt nor Lionel Messi, but sometimes it’s more about a mindset and positivity than anything else. Watt clearly wants this loan move to be a success and no doubt had half an eye on making his South Wales stay permanent.

Right now, considering the impact he has made on the team, there’s been little to suggest he’s not worth it.

slade deserves great credit for this find, its a no brainer to sign him provided the price is right.

however, i very much doubt this run of great form will continue until the end of his loan spell. he's playing for his next contract and when he secures that i think his performances will not be at the same very high level.

i live away so only go when i can but in the couple of games i've seen him he's been a cut above everyone else on the pitch.

And yet people gave Slade stick when he popped up  we need to sign him as soon as Janury hits. :thumbright: :ayatollah:
