Pitch is a problem

By Chris Wathan.

In the first-half, Craig Noone played a pass backwards and the ball died so suddenly it invited Brentford in for a chance via Alan Judge that Matt Connolly did well to block. The bobbles and the obvious cutting-up of the surface ensured the ball did not run true and the worry is that the surface will get worse before it gets better. For as much as plenty want to see better football played by the Bluebirds, the concern must be that the pitch may not allow it if continues to deteriorate.

My boy said he thought the pitch looked bad and looked like holding a lot of water :ayatollah:

The pitch has looked poor for quite a while in my opinion. Not sure what the problem is as I thought we had a modern technology pitch, plus the lamps.
Anybody know what has gone wrong? Are we perhaps cutting corners on the pitch, as we are elsewhere?

Cut backs.

Cutbacks explain? As the lamps are always in use or could it be that its been pissing down non stop for six weeks now with storm after storm the pitch needs a break in the weather thank God the blues have gone too

The pitch was getting worse before the heavy rain.

At least Wales won't be playing any qualifiers on it until next September.

I think your spot on about the rain as grass will struggle to grow when the ground is constantly soaking wet, growth lamps or not. As soon as we get a break in the weather the lamps will start working their magic.

I repeat what I said earlier in the thread. The pitch is supposedly of modern construction with good drainage. Surely all those better looking pitches on the box have also had rain?

The pitch was brilliant for the Wales games was it not ? ,if it's raining you can't cut it properly or tend to it ,the last 6 weeks havec seen record rainfall levels ,just need a break in the weather

As we have abandoned modern possession passing football in favour of the 1980's long ball down the middle or tap to the winger football why should we not want a 1980's pitch.

As soon as this wet spell passes, and the pitches dry out our new style will be exposed and teams will pass around us. But in the mean time lets ride it :ayatollah:

Leicesters pitch looked lovely on the tv Monday night. Ours is as modern as theirs isn't it?

The pitch has looked bad ever since our first game after the September internationals. A real shame - we have had a great pitch in previous years.

The non-stop rain can't have helped, surely? We certainly get much more rain in the west of the country. Agree that it didn't look great last night. We need a dry spell! Imagine what it would be like if the egg-chasers were still here! Doesn't bear thinking about!
