Joe Mason

I believe his confidence is shot to pieces since Watt has arrived, never rated Mason, he's poor on the ball, his first touch is woeful and he's slow, his work rate is shocking.

The guy should be nowhere near the first team.

City need to sell him in the summer.

Agreed. Some people seem to think Mason will still come good.

At the start of the season I said he wasn't, and will never be, good enough and he isn't. Mason is now 24/25 and should be at the peak of his powers. Watt is 21 and has another 2-3 years of improvement ahead.

Nobody would claim Watt is Prem class, he a decent Championship striker with promise right now. But he's already head and shoulders above what Mason has or will ever achieve.

The new whipping boy.

Under Malky playing behind the striker in the hole he was decent. Good touch, good movement, linked play well. Like Whitts he doesnt benefit from a rigid 442.

But he is young and should be more adaptable, he's a striker at the end of the day.

Whitts best years were in a 442 and he came inside later, he just hasn't got the legs now to play in the middle of a 442. I think mason showed alot of potential but for me is not achieving what we hoped he would. at the same time as per, alot of city fans are jumping on his back and finding any insult they can and going over board

Not really new. A lot of us said from day one that we did'nt think he was genuine championship class. I have always thought he could do a job in league 1, but I think he will always find it difficult at this level.

Kenny Millers movement and experience really helped Joe as did the oppressive highly prescriptive Malky tactics. Joe played a role in a percentage based game plan, now he is expected to run off a big man and run the channels, it doesn't play into his lack of any athletic ability.
He confidence is shot, he ran into two centre halfs rather than make a run down the channel last night.

Needs a move or another manager.
