Russell Slade On Tony Watt...

16/12/15

Tony looks a real threat.

He plays with no fear, he picks the ball up and wants to get straight at the centre-back, get past you and get a shot and he nearly scored a third and brought a great save from Button.

He was tired, that’s why we brought him off.

With the games coming thick and fast you put players at risk.

The same with Anthony Pilkington with the fitness and medical team telling me to get him off after 60 minutes never mind 80 minutes, but we did what we had to do and be strong with it.

Pilkington should be available on Friday now.

He wasn’t happy coming off but it happens and he’s apologised.

The reason was he wanted to stay on and try and get the winner, such is the unity and character to get the win.

' On Tony Watt’s future... '

We’ve not started talking yet, he’s only been here a month but he’s done himself no harm.

He’s giving himself a decent CV with us and his attitude and will to go and win games for us.

I couldn’t be more pleased because when you take someone on loan it doesn’t always mean it’s going to be a successful one.

In the time he’s been here he’s been very profitable for us.

Have we already agreed a fee for him ?

Otherwise the more he scores the higher the price tag

He's a must for me and we should do everything we can to sign him. When he's on the ball, you feel something is going to happen and he puts the effort in aswell. I don't understand the decision to take him off and we'll never know if he was tired but he's starting to build a good partnership with Kenwyne, which can only be good for us.

I was surprised listening to him last night with MoM award - saying he is only here til January but wants it to be longer.

FFS we actually have a very good looking strike partnership that are complementing each other very well. He seems intelligent enough to make runs and gamble off Kenwyn's knock downs. Even if we get no more faces in January - keeping him is a MUST!

i know its about Watt but just to pick up on Pilkington, he was going ballistic when taken off, have no problem with that at all so long as it doesnt boil over into more. :ayatollah:

Strange lot city fans when he signed he was waste time another Slade cockup showing his lack knowledge and ability to get decent players now he is better than sliced bread perhaps fans should not write players of or slag off managers until they see players play and then judge

This guy has got to stay - (obviously money will play a part) we must try our absolute best to keep him! He is an exciting player to watch and knows where the goal is. He also is a good partnership for Jones. Watt works his socks off for us too and scores and Jones doesn't seem to do as much running but can score out of nowhere! :bluescarf:

Bottom line Watt could be th difference between us making the playoffs (even if it's only just) and not.

The only problem I see is Saadi looks very good and the way Jones has been playing And also the form Watts on if we do sign Watt, Saadi may not get a chance unless either Jones or Watt get injured so it would be a shame not to play Saadi because he does look very promising

If Slade hasn't started talking about his future then i suggest he does so and very quickly :ayatollah:

His movement was head and shoulders ahead of all our attacking players last night

I would love to see Saadi and Watt upfront with each other we would thrash some teams. :thumbright: :ayatollah:

Daily Record in Scotland today reporting Watts move is to be made permanent after a £1m fee agreed.

Let's hope so, Great news if true
