Chelsea are set to submit a revised £40million bid for Everton defender John Stones in January, according to the Daily Express.

The faltering Premier League champions, who have failed with four bids to lure Stones away from Goodison Park already, believe they reignite their dismal season with by landing the coveted centre-back.

The Express claim owner Roman Abramovich views Stones as an integral addition to Chelsea’s recovery and the Blues hope a renewed bid will encourage Stones to force through a move.
