Sources at the club say the Bluebirds’ hierarchy are already impressed by Watt whose current loan deal is up on January 16th.
Cardiff City are poised to offer striker Tony Watt a permanent deal at the club in January, WalesOnline understands, and the Bluebirds could even be in the market for another striker when the transfer window opens.
Watt, who is on loan from Charlton until January 16, has seen himself shoot to the top of Cardiff’s wanted list with officials poised to prepare a contract if his current form continues.
The all-action 21-year-old has proved a smash hit in the Welsh capital grabbing a goal in Cardiff’s win at Bolton and earning the penalty which saw the Welsh club on their way to what proved a disappointing draw in the end against Sheffield Wednesday on the weekend.
Sources at the club say the Bluebirds’ hierarchy are already impressed and looking to sign Watt in January. Charlton are believed to want around £1m for the player who has fallen out of favour in south London.
As Russell Slade looks to keep his side pushing in the Championship play-off places we understand the manager has been given clearance to bring in up to two players next month.
If the Watt deal does not materialise, then the Bluebirds will turn to find another frontman, possibly returning to try to get the Premier League marksman they missed out on bringing in on loan recently. Even if Watt is signed, we have been told, the club might bring in another frontman, but there is also the option of looking for a winger to add some pace to the side.
Watt will again get the chance to show his worth as he lines up along-side Kenwyne Jones as the Bluebirds entertain Brentford in the Championship tomorrow night.
The news of the January signings comes as highly-placed sources at the club again reiterated owner Vincent Tan’s on-going commitment to the Bluebirds. The Malaysian billionaire is said to be still fully focused on seeing the side back into the top-flight with the businessman prepared to loosen the purse strings if he believes the right player to help the club with that ambition is identified and available in January.

Great news, he's been quality so far and is a snip at 1 million. Get the deal done.
