Russell Slade: Cardiff City boss not willing to sell in January
BBC
14TH Dec 2015
Cardiff City manager Russell Slade says he has no plans to let any players go during the January transfer window.
Striker Kenwyne Jones is out of contract at the end of the season and, as things stand, will be free to talk with other clubs in January.
Cardiff are seventh in the Championship and Slade wants to keep his squad intact as they chase a play-off spot.
"We don't want to lose our best players and you don't want to upset the group as well," he told BBC Radio Wales.
"There's a good togetherness, a good mentality and a good spirit there and you don't want to sacrifice that either.
"Well work hard to retain the services [of players]."
Slade wants Jones to sign a new contract to stay at the club after no agreement was reached when talks opened in September.
Cardiff drew 2-2 against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday having led at the interval through Craig Noone's penalty and Anthony Pilkington's effort.
But goals from Fernando Forestieri and Barry Bannan saw Wednesday hit back and the result saw Cardiff drop out of the Championship play-off spots.
Slade is content with the Bluebirds' current position and says results over the next few weeks will be key in shaping his side's season.
"Top six was always our mandate at the start of the season," Slade added.
"We're just about on course for that and we'd like to put a little bit of daylight between us and the rest.
"That makes Saturday's game quite defining in many ways because they [Sheffield Wednesday] are on the same points as us.
"We play a few a teams that are in and around us at this moment in time so it's a big period for us."
Cardiff host 10th-placed Brentford on Tuesday night before Friday night's game at Birmingham City, who are ninth.

I don't think Slade will have much choice in the matter.
It will be made clear to him that if he wants new players then he'll have to ship out existing players either on loan or by selling them.
Can't see him being allowed to bring anyone in without getting rid of somebody first.

Kenwynne going for free wouldn't be a disaster if you ask me.

If Kenwynne's agent can get him a decent contract for next season I would let him leave free. Surely a team like Villa could use his services, no i doubt it as well. The MLS season doesn't start for a while or its of to China. He is a good player, but not a 442 striker and there is no way Slade changes .. The game is about speed and/or skill. Strength is being kicked out of the game.

Kenwynnes just to expensive wage wise for us. unplayable on his day. thought he was having a great 2nd half on weekend. cant believe he took him off. but was poor 1st half. i cant see us offering a deal matching what hes on. needs to lower them at this level or take it as someone said in china etc who would pay it
