' Raving Reviews about Cardiff player out on Loan '

Just one of many good articles on Tom Adeyemi in the last few weeks

Evans Lauds Tom Adeyemi

I have never seen Tom Adeyemi as a sitting midfield player.

Leeds United

Leeds United head coach Steve Evans says he does not see Tom Adeyemi as a sitting midfielder and lauded the player's attributes.

Evans is a big fan of Adeyemi and the midfielder was on form against Hull City last weekend, a game he scored in to help the Whites win 2-1 at Elland Road.

The former Rotherham United manager feels that Adeyemi, due to his physical attributes, has always been seen as a sitting midfielder.

But the Scot believes that there is much more to the midfielder's game than simply protecting the defence and argued that when Adeyemi is in full flow he is hard to stop.

"Because of his physical attributes, size and his build he's always been seen as a sitting midfield player", he told a press conference.

"But I have never seen Tom Adeyemi as a sitting midfield player.

"He's someone who can get around the pitch and that's a major asset because with the physical attributes he's got, when he gets into full flow he's difficult to stop."

Adeyemi was snapped up on a season-long loan from Cardiff City by Evans' predecessor, Uwe Rosler.

Leeds have an option included in the loan to keep hold of the Norwich City youth product on a permanent basis if they believe he has impressed at Elland Road.

The curious case of Tom Adeyemi... have Cardiff City squandered midfield man's talent as he blossoms at Leeds?

Steve Tucker looks at how Adeyemi has been a vital cog for Leeds in an area where Cardiff have experienced their own problems this season

You would say the missing piece of the Cardiff City jigsaw is an all-action, box-to-box, goal-scoring midfielder, that is if they didn’t already have one.

In a club renowned for misfits, the curious case of Tom Adeyemi, remains a mystery to Bluebirds supporters perhaps unmatched by any other recently.

There have been plenty of Bluebirds’ players of late who seem to have arrived in the Welsh capital, have failed to make an impression, before being shipped out on loan.

Currently, the likes of Alex Revell, Eoin Doyle, Adam Le Fondre and Ben Turner are all turning out for different clubs for a variety of reasons, but Adeyemi, at the Bluebirds’ Championship rivals Leeds for the season, is different. Adeyemi, you see, is a roaring success at Elland Road.

It has taken the 24-year-old time to settle, but it seems, under the guidance of new Leeds boss Steve Evans, Adeyemi has started to fulfil the promise that has earned him praise throughout his whole career.

Adeyemi scores for Leeds v Hull (1min 05secs):

Adeyemi has blossomed under Evans, his goal and overall performance in Leeds’ excellent win over title-contenders Hull on the weekend, catapulted him into the headlines and thrilled the Elland Road crowd at the same time. Cardiff supporters meanwhile can surely only look on at the situation with some bemusement.

Under boss Russell Slade, the Cardiff midfield has been ear-marked as a problem department almost from the word go this term. Slade’s persistence with his lop-sided formation flummoxed many, eventually even the Cardiff boss himself.

Slade stepped in to move exciting, young talent Joe Ralls into the centre and dropping Peter Whittingham to allow Anthony Pilkington to operate as a more orthodox wideman in the Bluebirds’ battling 3-2 win at Bolton on the weekend.

Aron Gunnarsson, alongside Ralls in the engine room currently, has moved back into form himself, but the question remains, why would Cardiff seemingly discard an asset of the calibre of Adeyemi when they seem to have been crying out for that very kind of player this term?

From the very off, Adeyemi’s time at Cardiff had a hint of the bizarre about it.

A few of my mates go and see Leeds now and again and are more than happy with him and think is link with bridcutt could be a good one. Still don't think he's better than what we've got in his position at the moment so better to be out on loan playing than a couple of games on the dvp side

why does everything seem to have a slant of laying into the club

there is no question loaning out adeyemi and le fondre were the correct decisions (assuming no permanent one could have been made for ALF)

Agree. Sometimes it's anything to have a go.
Haven't seen Adeyemi play for Leeds but if he's progressed he sounds just the sort of player we need - athletic, box to box & maybe getting a few goals.

I wonder if Tucker will be following up this piece about the next Patrick Vieira this week?

Just read the match report on Sky and the only mention was he missed a sitter from six yards.
