Perhaps for the first time during Russell Slade's tenure at the club, Cardiff supporters are slowly beginning to show a little more faith in the former Leyton Orient chief.

The football on offer has been tedious and, some would argue, rather dull at times, but the Bluebirds are the side currently in the driving seat - just about - to claim the sixth and final playoff berth. It appears as though the division's current top five sides are well positioned to open up the gap over the chasing pack in the second tier, even if Hull City and Burnley are making difficult work of things at the moment. That could leave just the one spot to play for, and right now any one seven sides could rightfully claim their place in what is best described as a playoff lottery come the end of the campaign. To highlight the slim margins, victory for a Cardiff side with just two defeats in their last 11 would see them cement their current position, while defeat could see them fall down as far as 12th place come Saturday evening.

While the victory over a down-and-out Bolton Wanderers side may have looked like a formality last time out, it was a major triumph for Slade at a ground which only one other side has come away from with maximum points this term. City really did have to dig deep to get over the line, eventually claiming a 3-2 victory thanks to Anthony Pilkington's winner to ensure that Cardiff would end matchday 19 in sixth place rather than down in 11th - fine margins, indeed. Perhaps the most pleasing aspect of the win was the way in which the Bluebirds scored so freely from open play, something which they had previously failed to do in two months of football since Joe Mason struck against Brighton & Hove Albion in early October.

Now, back on home soil where they have lost just one of 11 games this season, Slade and his side have the chance to finally build some momentum by racking up successive wins for the first time since mid-September.

I hope the Club/Team do well, we have enough outside people and things who wish us ill!

These next 6 games will be the most important for RS since he has been here. If he pulls it off even I may start to believe, if not the pressure will be extreme.

It's about time this team clicked together and went on a super run :bluescarf:

When he says winning over the Cardiff fans,I fear he is making a huge leap of faith, sure there are his dye in the wool fans who would support him come what may,and maybe a few who are not so sure about their criticism of the manager in the past, but if you look at the recent poll on here, you see a clear majority of fans want to see the back of Slade asap

totally agree  he hasn't won me over but we are seeing some improvement's with his tactics.

He hasn't won me over at all. He is consistant, but some are getting carried away with a false position.

We need to make that move into the top group for me to suddenly become a believer. Being better than Ole is no praise.

This isn't a bad group of players and young Joe Ralls has made massive leaps. The poor playing conditions nullify Gunnars lack of technical ability so I am expecting a win tomorrow and Tuesday, if we do that we'll be at least 6th place going into an important away game. 7 points and i may believe.

3 draws and there will be carnage, back in mid table and calls for Bellers.

I have never gone into a game wanting the team or any player to fail because it serves an "I told you" position but I just can't get carried away. It hurts being a city fan, remember no team top at christmas has failed to get promoted, I am wary of any hope. Someone will put a fifth man in midfiled and Russ will think its the Krypton Factor and fall to pieces and we'll get my favourite Russ quote "well, i never saw that coming"

I hope all you believers are still here on Wednesday morning

I feel this sudden faith has come from Tony Watt.

Now we have a bit of speed up front........

since when is 46% a majority yet alone a clear one?

Also, regardless of the results, a poll of 112 people on a forum is hardly indicative of the wider fan base

Looking at the results of the poll again,it still looks a clear majority for him going to me,maybe you can enlighten me as to your definition of a clear majority is?
