The striker netted his first for Cardiff against Bolton and now is determined to add to his haul - starting against Sheffield Wednesday this weekend
Cardiff City hit-man Tony Watt is gunning for a first home goal this weekend and has warned the Championship he is only going to get better.
The 21-year-old has proved an instant success in the Welsh capital after arriving at the Bluebirds on loan from Charlton a couple of weeks ago.
Watt is set to remain at Cardiff until January 16, but has already hinted he could see his long-term future with the Bluebirds.
And few are complaining so far. An excellent debut, in an ultimately frustrating draw at home to Burnley, was followed up with a thrilling first goal as he opened the scoring when Russell Slade’s men won at Bolton on the weekend.
Watt said his Cardiff cause had been helped by the fantastic welcome he’d received at the club and now he wants to repay the fantastic response from Bluebirds fans by grabbing his first home goal when Sheffield Wednesday visit this weekend for a crunch Championship encounter.
“I want to build on things now. I think I’ve shown the fans what kind of player I am now. I think I can do better, I believe I can do more,” said Watt.
“It’s been good here. The boys have been brilliant, the staff have been brilliant too, everyone has been really welcoming. Even after a few days it was just like I had signed here. They just treat you as a part of the squad. If you bring something to the squad then everyone is happy.
“The fans have been great to me. They clapped me off after my home debut which is what you live for in football really.”
Watt’s goal against Bolton was actually his fourth of the season so far after finding the net in Charlton’s opening three games of the campaign before falling out of favour. The striker is now determined to add to that haul during his time with the Bluebirds starting against Wednesday who are level on points with sixth-place Bluebirds.
But the modest marksman said he is prepared to put personal glory aside and is focused on just helping the Bluebirds keep up their push at the top end of the table.
Watt added: “There’s no goal target, I’m just looking to get as many as I can.”

Can't wait to see more of him I'm loving his attitude.

Agree, he seems to have a great attitude and I've liked his aggressive runs through defenders, I have a good feeling about him. Maybe with RS re-energising the midfield of late and changing to 4-5-1 when we are winning with 20 mins to go, we will start to see the potential of what we know the squad is very capable of. And what a bench to have at your disposal.

His goal against Bolton was very impressive. Hope there's many more to come.

I would be happy of any front line that had Jones , Asaadi or Watt in it , plus some cameo roles from Ameobi or Mason
Put in a half decent manager in there - and we would be top

The boy has a lot of talent and his attitude is fantastic, a model pro, something hopefully rubbing off on other squad members.
If we're looking at a playoff battle we need players like Tony giving their all.

How dare Russell Slade bring in this striker who can't even get in a struggling Championship team! Slade out!
