" VINCENT TAN HAS PROMISED SLADE? "

I've just been told Tan has promised Russell Slade if he keeps Cardiff City in the Top 6 of the Championship going in to January, Slade will get money for Transfers in the January transfer market.

How can u not trust a manager whose had to strip a playing squad right down but still gets us into the top 6. People criticising his transfers are just looking for excuses. Loads of them are youngsters bought for the youth team. Then u have pelts and malone who cost a massive 100,000. Both good players. Revell was cheap and anyone with an ounce of football knowledge knows he was bought as backup to Kenwyne.

Good post Pontypool, you make a reasonable point, his football may not be making Real Madrid fans drool at the mouth, but he is making the best of the squad of players he has at his disposal, despite of the difficult situation the club is in with fans staying away / financial constraints etc.

Would i like a more appealing manager at the helm? yes, but Slade is doing a decent job with whats available. The league table doesn't lie.

I also agree we cant really judge Slade on his transfer policiy yet, we havent seen what the man could do with a reasonable budget at his disposal, surely he deserves the opportunity to strengthen the squad based on what he has achieved results wise with such limitations?

Good post Pontypool.

Marshall - Premier league
Peltier - solid Championship
Connolly - top Championshp
Morrison - Solid Championship
Fabio - Premier league
Manga - Premier league
Malone - Solid Champoinship
Gunnar - Championship
Whitts - top Championship
Ralls - top Championshp (prob better)
Pilkington - top Championship
Noone - top Championship
Dikgachoi - top Championshp
Jones - Premier league
Watt- top Championshp
Mason - league 1

The average is top championship, why are we suggesting that he is doing a better job than the player available. Yes he has let player go, but were they really that much better. He hasn't got to work with league 1 players.

Spot on

It's the same when people mention Malky only having 10 senior players when he took over. They fail to mention what good players they were such as Marshall, Heaton, SuperKev, Hudson, Mcphail and Whitts.

If only football was that simple, just look at Chelsea, stop looking out of your 1 eye and talking out of your arse.

I know what u mean but I suppose adding everything up we're probably in the right position. We've got some very good players. I don't think his signings are awful but he did come into a club with a stupidly big squad. I think once you start getting rid of players then it's hard to keep the morale up because the remaining players probably didn't know of they were coming or going. Last season was a write off for me. Unfair to judge him on that. But this season he is doing OK. Inconsistent in parts but so are most teams in this league.

I'm think people are getting far too getting carried away with the current position as 3 points separate 6th and 12th and 5 points 6th and 5th. We are just one of a bunch of inconsistent teams who are too good to get sucked into relegation and not good enough to get promoted.

I was saying mid table at best so Slade has over achieved there. If he can maintain that position into New Year, give him a fighting chance to buy key players in.

Who knows?

Let me try and make sense of this...

You DON'T want us in the top 6 come January and you DON'T want us to be giving a budget to push for promotion? And Because you don't trust the man that got us to that position...

Re: " TAN HAS PROMISED SLADE "

Wed Dec 09, 2015 1:00 pm

I will be very surprised if we are top 6 by then.

I mean there is only one place to fight for against a number of teams. I wonder if Tan would have made the same promise if there were 3 points between the 3rd spot and say 9th. I doubt it very much.

Re: " TAN HAS PROMISED SLADE "

Wed Dec 09, 2015 1:14 pm

We have quality throughout the squad, I'd trim down the fringe players like o'keefe, revell and buy an out and out goal scorer, get one of them with a decent winger and our team is sorted.

Although I do not wish to speak for Deano, what I think might be of concern not just for him but quite a lot of fans,is in view of Slade's transfer record, would it stand the risk of him wasting any war chest he might be given

I feel that any manager who is anywhere near play offs with no money and a prick of an owner deserves to be given a shot. For me im not his biggest fan but by god we could be so much worse!!! Derby, boro and burnley have spent big and are in the same place as us really? So give him and the players some sort of credit.....lets get behind them now

Theres a lot of truth in that, Im not a Slade fan, but if we are in the top 6 come Jan, Slade deserves to be fully backed :ayatollah:

When you consider the money the other top sides and a lot of sides below us have spent you can't argue with the strengh of our squad and the position we're in.

Theres a lot of truth in that as well, Slade started with a big/quality squad and even this season, Slade started with a quality squad again.

But if he keeps us in the Top 6 by Jan,then Slade deserves to get the 3 players he wants.

I think we all know there's not guna be a 'war chest' avaliable.

Definatly not even a fraction of what the last two mangers had with FFP still knocking at the door.

Using common sense one would guess he may give slade a mill or so. To hopefully tie up watt and a winger.

If Slades squad has us in the play offs come Jan then he deserves to be trusted.
