EXCLUSIVE: Michael Chopra desperate for chance to save Wasps as new gaffer

MICHAEL CHOPRA has thrown his hat into the ring for the vacant manager's position at Alloa Athletic after the resignation of Danny Lennon on Monday night.

The former Newcastle and Ipswich hitman says he is desperate for the chance to save the club as gaffer in the same way his goals saved them last season.

The experienced hitman has worked under some of the biggest manager's in the game during his illustrious career and says he will draw on all of that experience to help the Wasps to beat the drop at the foot of the SPFL Championship.

Chopra told Advertiser sport: ““I am definitely up for the job. I am desperate for the chance to try to keep this club in the Championship. I'd love the opportunity because I have a strong bond with the club and the fans since arriving here. My job when I came in was to score goals to keep the club in the league last season and I succeeded with that, so if it is the right time for the club and the chairman to give me it, then I know I could do the job of keeping the club up this season. I have worked with some of the best coaches in the game and so it is definitely a step I am looking to take. I worked under the likes of Sir Bobby Robson, Roy Keane and Mick McCarthy in my career and you always learn things from these type of managers.
