Swansea open talks with David Moyes as axe looms for Garry Monk with club two points above drop zone.

Monk is a dead man walking at the Liberty Stadium after the 3-0 defeat to Leicester and chairman Huw Jenkins wants Moyes to replace him

Is Moyes heading for the Liberty Stadium?

Swansea have opened talks with David Moyes about taking over from Garry Monk.

Monk is a dead man walking at the Liberty Stadium after yesterday's crushing home defeat to Leicester and chairman Huw Jenkins wants Moyes to replace him.

It is understood Jenkins has taken the first step towards appointing Moyes by holding talks with his agent and brother Kenny.

Jenkins fears for Swansea's Premier League status after seeing them slip to just two points above the drop zone and believes Moyes can guide them to safety.

The former Manchester United and Everton boss has a proud Premier League record and Jenkins believes the Swans need the Scot's experience in the dug-out.

Moyes is taking time to consider his next job after being sacked by Real Sociedad last month and is in demand.

Leeds fans and multi-millionaire haulier Steve Parkin wants him at Elland Road if his takeover goes through.

However Jenkins has acted first and Moyes could be in charge for Swansea's next game at Manchester City on Saturday.

Jenkins was ready to sack Monk, who took over from Michael Laudrup in February 2014, during the international break, but decided to give him one last chance.

However Swansea's form has not improved and yesterday's 3-0 loss to Leicester means they have managed just one win from their last 11 Premier League games.

I reckon Huw should reward him with another 5 year contract with a bit of luck he'll take them to the non league status that they should have had years ago instead of of fiddling all their creditors. It's what west wales deserves. Long may they wallow in shit!

Without doubt monk will be sacked this week, if not then Man City will secure it on the weekend. I like Moyes but am not sure that would fit well. Make no mistake if they thought they were to good to go down a quick glance at the table after this weekend with Boutnemouth and Newcastle turning over higher opposition the jacks are very much indeed in a relegation fight.

Football changes very quickly.

Apart from Everton where he did well on the budget offered. He has not been great in his last 2 jobs and sacked in both so is he the answer? I hope so  let him take them down :laughing6:

Pretty unimaginative move by the Gypo's if it's true. Monk is a cock so it will be a shame if they end his torment too soon

Very True, personally think they cashed in one to many times "Wilfred" each side has vastly improved, they haven't. Not doubting they have some real quality, do they have the balls for a fight ?

Opening statement is out of date,
Jacks only one point from drop-zone as Newcastle won today. :D

I was laughed at by them when 2yes ago I said you keep selling best players and you will pay for that policy! Well they may not go down but its had the effect of distabeling team, same with the managers!

Talk on Facebook by a Jack is that training down there on Thursday was a farce, Shelvy and Sigurdsson coming to blows and Monk called the session off after 15 mins.

I don't see them getting relegated but they are doing their best to at least try.

Carl, what happened with Williams after the game? :?

I heard he chased after the Leicester bus to find one of their players? Sorry if I missed it elsewhere

Williams had a bust up with Mahrez in the tunnel after the game then went looking for Mahrez on the Leicester team coach later on Chris.

Really thought that Williams was better than that. However things are clearly not well out west and it's fantastic.

Things are falling apart very nicely at gyposville. Haven't seen many of their posters on here lately, I wonder why.

Moyes is a good manager, so I hope not. However he dies not play the style of football that the gypos like, he is far more direct and defence orientated :bluebird:

They have done so well with this policy, a lot is obviously good work and some of it fortunate same goes with managers. But it's the old saying keep selling your best players and eventually it will catch you out. A lot don't think they will go down, am not so sure now. The gap has been closed things are not good and the foreign players will need to be up for a fight. Didn't see this coming but it's here. :laughing5:

Agree, Gareth. With me it's more about their ignorant, sycophant supporters than the club itself! ;)

He's been sacked from his last two jobs though. Let's hope those simpletons from down West employ him and they experience a relegation this season.

Everyone's sweethearts in the Premier League at one time, forgot the next. :laughing6:

Not sure it'd be a good fit, he'd keep them up but he doesn't exactly play Tiki taka does he.

they are really in the relegation mix-with Newcastle winning earlier they are now only 1 point above the relegation zone & their next game is man city away.the 2 teams immediately above them are Chelsea & west brom( under pullis) & cant see either of them being involved in a relegation fight.
Villa are stranded at rock bottom ( but look at Leicester bottom last xmas & palace bottom in our relegation year) -so if you assume villa don't pull back like either of those, then theres 2 clubs to join them out of 5 - Newcastle, sunderland, bournmouth ,Norwich & jacks.
If I had to put money on it I would go for jacks & Norwich but who knows?

It will take a very astute manager to turn the chaos there around. Sinking like a stone whilst those below start to rise. There might be a god after all.
Have they started to rebuild there ground yet? :digging2:
