I need someone anti Slade to give a good answer please?

Can someone anti Slade answer this?

He took us over when we were 15th. Apparently his signings are shite. He also can't motivate players to perform. He also had to get rid of a quarter of the squad to save money. If all that is true wouldn't we have gone down in the table?

We are 6th so by any form of measuring performance we are doing better than when he took over.

Answers please.

Before anyone says the football is dire when Malky was boring us to the championship it was a results business.

I anti Slade. He has done a great job in reducing costs etc.

However the championship is a poor league. He picks certain players and won't drop others. He has no plan b and games like Burnley and the wurzels at home and Preston away show this. With a decent tactician we'd be in top 3 in my opinion.

Do you honestly think the squad is good enough for that?

Nobody likes Tan and Slade is a Tan appointment. I do agree with your points made that as a results business and he has not failed to meet objectives, but it's a long season. Slade has to finish 6th after 46 games to get any credit from fans.

It's a different club to when Malky was winning games in lets say an attritional way.

Yes he is a better administrator than Ole, but so would most 10 year olds.

I am not a fan nor hater, he is doing his job which i believe is to cut as much as he can whilst staying in the championship. We need another 16 to 18 points before he has done half the job.

We are getting carried away, we are fans and allowed that, but we are three points for 11th and five points from 5th. With our squad playing 442 I don't believe we'll be anywhere near the top 6 as better teams will flood the midfield and cut the supply to the top 2.

7 points from the next three games and i'll be a believer, but until then i'll remain sceptical.

It's a difficult one. Burnley, Derby and boro are way above the other 21 teams in my opinion.Hull are probably nearest. Rest of teams are very similar apart from the 3 promoted teams and Rotherham. I can't believe that Brighton are still unbeaten. The power of a good manager can't be under estimated. Malky got an average team to promotion.

I may be totally wrong and hope I am but Slade does not have that ability to change a game with good tactics.

In terms of our squad we have best keeper in league. Defensively I'm not convinced by Morrison and Malone . Would rather manga and Connely with Fabio left back. Midfield wise gunner and Ralls in centre are good. Whitts needs a break. Attacking wise I'm not convinced due to lack of pace.

If we are to maintain a place in or around play offs we need to bring in 2 or 3 attack minded players with pace and cover at full back.

Slade is doing a decent job at the moment with the restrictions he has to work with i don't mind him using 442 as long he is using the right players for it and that's what he is starting to do finally with Ralls and Gunner in Midfield it was frustrating when we play whiits and KG in midfield and Ralls on the wing we just looked so negative and boring but it seems that Slade is learning from his mistakes and now we are starting to play good attacking football finally. :thumbright: :ayatollah:

Some decent posts, always maintained he has done a great job stabilised us slashed the wages etc etc etc but to move forward it's time to thank him and install a new manager. I go however recognise we have sneaked in to 6th unnoticed, produced best display for a long time against high flying Burnley, he has addressed the cm problem and dropped witts, the need for a direct striker and finally thank God dropped Mason.

It flits back and forth, but if he can maintain our position in the top 6 over the next 3 games and continue with football like we played against Burnley I for one will rest my :sladeout: to the ground until the season has finished.

I could give you the standard answer, which is "the quality of the Championship is bog standard" but in all honesty I could not give you a divintive answer, but ponder this if you will, two things that Slade has done recently that in my opinion, not many on here saw coming are the dropping of Whittingham and Mason, in fact neither of those players made it off the sub's bench Saturday, could it possibly be something has happened behind the scenes that us fans are unaware off?

Well yeah we've signed Tony watt because mason is weak on the ball and hads't scored in a while - that's why he isn't playing.

And ralls has pushed whitts out of the team - that's why he isn't playing.

I doubt there's any more to it than that imo. Just a couple of good decisions.

If he finishes 6th at end if season will that constitute success?

Re: I need someone anti Slade to give a good answer please?

Two words to answer the question: Tactically Naeve.

Professional football requires an understanding of how the opposition play, and to make it difficult for them to play against you.

442 is too predictable. The opposition know what's coming and can easily adapt their game plan.

Second, Slade doesn't adapt to how the opposition are playing. Its 442 or bust. We were undone by Burnley because we didn't adapt to their changed formation. We didn't bolster the midfield to breakdown their attack when we were ahead. Basic stuff.

Selecting the wrong players week in week out is another weakness. How long did it take Slade to put Witts on the bench? Why not play Kennedy?

I don't care about boring football if its effective, but generally speaking its not. Our current position is a reflection of a poor league. Slade has been getting lucky, but that will eventually run out.

Narrowly beating Bolton, a bottom of the table team is nothing to get excited about.

With regret I don't see us in the top 6 at the end of this season, but I hope Im wrong.

Your response to my posting has given me an open goal if you will, Slade should have seen what most of us fans were seeing months ago, which was that both Whittingham and Mason brought nothing to the team, and because he was slow to react may have cost us valuable points, so I come back to my original point, was it Slade's idea to drop these players or is someone pulling his strings?

why not?I'm quite sure he does because as soon as a post about Kennedy not playing then the next game he was on the bench for one of the first time this season.Plus when we was all moaning about ralls playing on the left he plays him the next game in the centre

What a load of nonsense.

if Slade picked the team based on what it says on fans forums then Manga would be playing instead of Morrison.

Re: I need someone anti Slade to give a good answer please?

Tue Dec 08, 2015 9:13 pm

He has steadied the ship but he is not the man to take us back up. He lacks key skills to achieve that:

1) passion
2) grit
3) a good rapport with fans to get them behind him in unison
4) a cohesive dressing room behind him that believes in him

The football doesn't really matter. If its effective, its effective. The point is Slade isn't because he is not a manager with the required attributes to get us out of this division.

Look at previous managers who've taken clubs up:

1) Malky - passion, grit, players fought for him, fans loved him
2) Brenda - Swansea had grit and played good football, players played for him, fans loved him
3) Warnock - passion, grit, fans loved him and had fight and stuck up for his team like it was his family
4) Howe - fans loved him, great passion, good style of football the entire team bought into, etc.
5) Adkins - tactician, adored by Southampton fans, players like Lallana loved and thrived off his system etc.

Notice all of these common traits of top managers.......these are things from within.

Now, lets ask ourselves these questions:

1) Do you believe Slade has passion? If so, does he show it enough for it to rub off on the entire team?
2) Does his side have grit and determination? Does it want to put in a shift for him over the entire season?
3) Do the players buy into his style, formation and tactics?
4) Does he have the fans onside in unison? If not, why not?

Slade is a decent manager who has steadied the ship but I don't believe for one moment he has the required traits and attributes to take us to another level. Would I get rid of Slade for someone like Bellamy? No. Would I get rid of him for someone who I believe could take us to the next level? Yes. The key is the timing of the replacement.
