442 yesterday

Sun Dec 06, 2015 11:42 am

Bournemouth 442 beating chelsea

Leicester 442 beating swansea

Played correctly with right players it can work!

Slade seems to be learning and if we keep ralls and gunnar cm and play with pilks on one wing and noone ameobi or kennedy on the other then midifield will be strong.

Also in january we have saadi to come back, him and watt upfront would be lethal imo.

Things starting to look more positive now just hope slade keeps whitts out the side now..

They played with one striker, King.

Not sure how they set up but Richie and Stanislas were wide midfielders .

Don't care if Whitts plays or not, but we must go 433.

Not knocking Slade too much for yesterday Magic because I was delighted with the changes in personnel and I think your comments are well made; however I think we might have done even better with a 4-5-1 yesterday with Digkacoi the holding midfielder and Gunnar and Rall just in front with Pilkington given a free role. A bit more defensive solidity in away matches could be beneficial. Nevertheless big improvement yesterday in all fairness.

Ralls is offering us much more as a central midfield player . He has the confidence and desire to accept the ball even under pressure. He has the first touch and strength to hold off pressing opponents and make room for himself to choose the correct option for our attacking play. He has the innate ability to drive forward into space and directly engage opposition defenders, forcing them to make choices putting them on the backfoot and out of their comfort zones.

I have been particularly encouraged by his link up play with Tony Watt, I like the look of this young forward. They are both intelligent players who want to attack defences directly at a high tempo.

Ralls is currently offering us attacking options that Whittingham, on the evidence of this season's performances is incapable of providing. I am very encouraged by the change in personnel introduced by Slade over the last couple of games.

Slade making all the right noises at the moment. Agree with your comments on ralls but a mention to gunnar needs to be made too imo. Gunnar like ralls gets stuck in, also like ralls he can drive forward with the ball and change defence into attack. Both players compliment eachother well imo.

Tony watt looks like a player who could score lots of goals, i think if he is managed the right way and is enjoying his football we could have a very good player on our hands. Saadi offers more than jones overall so these to paired would get us plenty of goals imo.

Bayern, Barca and Madrid are considered the 3 best teams in the world and they don't play 442.

I don't see Saadi and Watt as a combo at all. What little we've seen thus far they are similar. If playing 2 up top it needs to be one or the other with Jones.

Disagree. Saadi was brought in to play the same role as jones, typical number 9 slade described him as, he has power like jones, strength like jones, physical presence like jones, cant comment on his aerial ability but he has pace and better technically than jones so as far as i can see hes a like for like for jones but better i predict.

Watt is more a poacher number 10 man dynamic and has pace but not the same physical attributes of a number 9.

Id pick pace and pace together upfront over pace and a slow player any day of the week.

He was wandering around the family stand last week and is much smaller than you think, i doubt he is 5"9'

Jones is a target man and not a number 9 and if you think Saadi has the same physical presence as Jones we must be talking about a different player.

I dont think saadi has the same physical presence as jones, jones has more a physical presence i know, but saadi would have enough a physical presence to make a nuisance for defenders imo.

Saadi would score more goals than jones imo this is why id rather see saadi in there instead of jones. Saadi and watt could def work imo

What makes you think that Saadi is better technically than Jones? You must have watched Saadi for more than his 10 minutes a month ago to reach that conclusion. Have you?

Jones is very good tecnhically - close control, excellent passing, and flicks and tricks like the ones that set up the 2nd and 3rd goals at Bolton.

How do you know Saadi and watt will be lethal? Saadi played for about 15 mins in a city shirt

Re: 442 yesterday

Mon Dec 07, 2015 4:28 pm

Ive seen enough of kenwynne to know his shooting is poor.
Saadi looked good technically when he came on the other week and being capped at every level in the france youth set up id say he must be technically good.

Time will tell but saadi will prove to be a better player than kenwynne and a better goalscorer imo. Just need him to stay fit.

Re: 442 yesterday

Mon Dec 07, 2015 4:59 pm

Chelsea and Swansea are both in a slump and clearly Bournemouth and Leicester wanted it more.

I'm not saying 4-4-2 isn't a good system, but Slade has never changed his tactics! He needs to try out other formations and adapt in different games!

I hope so. Sounds good in theory but I prefer to see a player play a few times before I judge him.

Yeah he looks decent. Hopefully in watt and Saadi we will have two fearless and direct strikers that can make something from nothing

Thats what im thinking. Two fearless direct pacy strikers playing alongside eachother now that would frighten the life out of defences and cause havoc.

Ok saadi might not have the physical presence of jones, but he would put himself about more and they called him the bull in france because of his physicality. Kenwynne makes a nuisance of himself when he can bothered and is too inconsistent with it for me.

Re: 442 yesterday

I just think Watt & Saadi will work, both can run in behind and cause all sorts of trouble, the opposition will have to drop back another 10 meters to close the space giving the midfield more space.

All we need in the transfer window is top class (for the championship) passer, he doesn't have to be an athlete because we have two monsters in the middle, just need to add a bit of class to that physicality.......Any ideas ;)

Couldn't help it slicker & trooblue

100% spot on. He has never changed from 4-4-2 even if we are winning, drawing or loosing - been saying this for weeks!
