Why do we suddenly accept mediocrity?

Sat Dec 05, 2015 5:25 pm

Cardiff under Russell Slade

1) Now in the top 6
2) current projection of 71 points - a tally that is in the 'just miss out on playoffs' region (has only been enough once in last 5 years to reach the playoffs)
3) most boring football of all time - makes Malky's Cardiff City look like La Masia
4) continuously talks nonsense in press conferences
5) has done okay in the transfer window given the restrictions on him with spending

End result = fans lapping it up as if its wonderful - fans accepting mediocrity

Cardiff under Dave Jones

1) Frequently in the top 6
2) When he missed out it was the end of the world and people called for his head
3) Played some of the most exciting football ever with good footballers linking up
4) Was boring and often talked rubbish in press conferences
5) he made us net £20m through transfer dealings over the years whilst still maintaining a challenge

End result = fans called for his head and he was the victim of a frustrated witch hunt - fans didn't accept mediocrity

---

Most of the things we criticised Jones for, we are lapping up under Slade as if its acceptable, when the reality is this mediocrity is not acceptable at all, no matter how much we delude or convince ourselves otherwise.

If you are happy to waste another 3-4 years narrowly missing out and watching other clubs become the next Preston who stop us at the last hurdle then get behind Slade, but if you want someone who, like Malky for all his faults, can grind out the sort of form, regardless of playing style, that is required to get out of this division, then we must move forward without Slade.

Malky had everything Slade and Jones didn't have and those attributes are the requirements to get out of the division: passion, pride, fight, grit, determination, organisation and solidarity. We need a leader and someone the players want to give their absolute all for as if its a family unit coming together, not mediocrity.

Would you attend games then? How much of this mediocre football have you actually witnessed?

Easy cheap shot when you don't actually have an argument of any credence. Nice attempt from a fallacious position there but it'll only work on fools. I have made it glaringly obvious that I will not attend a game until Tan is gone. Simple as that, I hope that little sentence there helps you understand that fact. Now, since then I have used City Player, which is a modest sum in comparison to a season ticket to listen/catch up on games via highlights and this season I have cancelled that because there's more fun taken from listening to the humming noise of the neighbours lawnmower on weekends than that.

You don't attend games yourself but you feel both qualified and justified to criticise fans who do attend for supposedly accepting mediocre football. Perhaps, your views would be more valid if you actually sat in the stands and shared your perceptive insights with the supporters who do attend and support their team.

I believe you would find that many who have had season tickets for many years would love to see their beloved team playing imaginative, expansive attacking football but we simply do not have the palyers required to do that. Even the messianic Mr. Jones could not inspire this current group to play that type of football.

We are rebuilding our team piece by piece following the debacle of our sojourn in the Premier league, we doing this in a very different financial climate to the one Mr. Mackay presided over during our promotion season.

As a supporter who attends games and cheers my team in I will watch developments in January very closely. I have a feeling that we may witness encouraging developments.

Because I our current situation we don't have much choice simple as that

We don't have funds to buy, we still have a wage bill way to high and a squad of around 35 players

We have to off laid before we buy

We are £180m roughly in debt and have an owner who's lost interest

We have no right to say we should be higher in the league, we have no right to demand big money signings or big name managers whilst we are still asking for our owner to f**k off

Quite simple really

Only the deluded think otherwise

Quite frankly whilst the football could be better all things considered we aren't doing all that badly

You really have lost the plot if you think I'm a Swansea fan.
