SALFORD CITY BBC AGAIN!

Fri Dec 04, 2015 8:45 pm

Please spare a thought for the other non-league clubs that are now ignored in favour of the one that definitely does not need TV revenue. Spare a thought for any grass roots club that now will never ever get the publicity that used to come with luck, once a lifetime. Who are Whitehawk for instance? Dagenham & Red vs Whitehawk 2pm tomorrow.

Looking through the FA Cup draw,

Stourbridge vs Eastleigh, Welling United vs Carlisle Utd, BBC Director General, 'sorry but not sexy enough.'

BBC are trying to play the North Vs South divide, wilfully neglecting that Salford are picked because of the interest from there ownership.

After their showing last week, the BBC's lead executive for football Mark Cole was forced to defend the extensive coverage.

Speaking to Radio Times, he said: “That was mentioned when we were choosing the games and I said 'look we have to just choose what we think is the best game and we’ve just got to make sure all of our coverage is fully representative of the whole country', which it is.

"I can see as a collective that some people will say ‘look actually you have got to be careful on that’, I think it is just one for us to keep an eye on.

“I think if you had said five years ago that the BBC would be accused of having a bias towards coverage in the north then people would have laughed at you.”

Spare a thought for all the skint clubs including football league clubs that ain't got a pot to pis^ in while the BBC cream all over the 'Class of 92'

It's not about who needs the money. It's about what gets views (brings in money). Salford are in the headlines for very obvious reasons.

To justify spending the public licence fee on live football then the Beeb need as many viewing figures as possible.

Like it not Salford City have become very interesting nationwide and are the biggest draw in this round.

yes, this is the case, be nice for the BBC to be honest about it. Salford City I would guess would not be the most popular of clubs at that level

Not as good as the Dag vs Whitehawk, manager celebrating with the away fans at the end, last minute goal. I thought the Sal vs Hartlepool game was crap, but I only watched about 10mins

I have to strongly agree with the OP here. Salford are minted compared to their non league counterparts. I understand they are the flavour of the day but I would love to see other non league sides get a showing.

The lowest ranked side yesterday was Northwich who played Northampton. 2-0 up with 10 to go and lose. Would have been a great choice.

Thank you! wasn't sure if any City fans were bothered by the excessive interest BBC has with Salford City due to the lack of replies !

Lots of good FA Cup games on this week, with lots of interesting stories of p/t footballers participating in the biggest games of there careers

Great documentary on Salford which I thoroughly enjoyed. Understand them choosing Salford in the first round but two in a row is excessive. BBC coverage has been great so far, really enjoyed the final score programme this afternoon showing all the goals as they happened.

Roll on the draw tomorrow, Portsmouth or Bury away for me.

Yes, the BBC coverage was class today, they done a brilliant job with that. Colchester scoring when they were focussing on a miss by the Altrincham striker. Love the FA Cup :ayatollah:

Can you imagine that

The Wall fans who terrorised Luton in 1985 showing up in Whitehawk in 2015.

There's a film in there somewhere. Football Factory meets Back to the Future.

That Altrincham opener was sublime. If Rooney or Beckham had scored that they would be playing it for years.
