" Complete Rubbish "

Thu Dec 03, 2015 6:50 pm

Cardiff City boss Russell Slade has described suggestions defender Bruno Manga will be leaving the Bluebirds in January as “complete rubbish.”

It has been reported the 27-year-old centre-half will return to France when the transfer window opens with Ligue 1 side Toulouse set to make a bid for his services.

Reports in France state Toulouse boss Dominique Arribage sees Manga as the kind of experienced defender he needs to ease the Stadium Municipal side away from trouble as they fight to avoid relegation.

Slade, who's side go to bottom club Bolton in the Championship this weekend, has rejected the idea, insisting the Bluebirds have had no approach from Toulouse and that anyway, Manga’s future lies in the Welsh capital where he still has 18 months left on his contract.

“It’s complete rumour, there’s been no contact at all about Bruno,” said Slade

“As far as we are concerned the whole thing is just complete rubbish. Bruno is a big part of our plans moving forward here and it is as simple as that.

“We have only just got him fit after a difficult season so we’ll take things from here now and see what develops.

“As far as we are aware Bruno himself is happy at Cardiff City and looking forward to what lies ahead.”

Manga was signed by Slade’s predecessor at Cardiff, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, in September 2014 from French outfit Lorient.

Cardiff paid a fee of £5m for the player, but it looks unlikely Toulouse would stretch to match that amount.

Manga, the Bluebirds Player of the season last term, has endured a torrid campaign this time around.

He injured a knee during the Bluebirds’ preseason tour of and missed the opening of the season's hostilities.

Then, as he returned to fitness, he injured a groin whilst in on international duty with Gabon.

He has started just one game for Cardiff this term, the Capital One Cup defeat at MK Dons in August, and made two appearances in the Championship off the bench.

He has been an unused sub in Cardiff’s last two fixtures, but his route to the first team right now is blocked by the good form of current centre-half partnership Sean Morrison and Matthew Connolly.

If this is true, this is excellent news Norms. Manga is truly a top class defender who has the potential to be a Premier League standard defender. He is very quick, athletic, comfortable in the Bala had a good passer.

If he is stays with us it is an indicator of our ambition, I would not be surprised if he did move on, he is a player whose value has increased in the time he has spent with us. I would not blame the club if they cashed in to reduce the debt, however, the debt is so large and the demand from supporters so low, with regard to attendances, it is important we are seen to be retaining our best players.
All the best Norms, Gibbo!

Keep him and play him before he gets fed up. He's our best defender.

He's fully fit now.

Do you reckon Slade will start him tomorrow?

Doesn't matter what Slade says about Bruno leaving in January, only Tan's opinion matters unfortunately.
