Slade will keep fingers crossed he will be boosted by another returning defender for Saturday’s clash at troubled Bolton with full-back Fabio claiming he is close to being back in contention.

Fabio, who had been in eye-catching form for Slade’s side, has been sidelined since damaging ligaments in his foot in the goalless draw with Ipswich at the end of October.

But he has now returned to training and is eager to make his way back into the starting line-up as he eyes up a mid-season charge.

"It was very frustrating. I was playing good and playing every game,” the Brazilian said.

“But I am recovered now and want to be back on the pitch. The boys and the staff have helped me a lot.

“I have worked hard to get back as quickly as possible and I think it is quicker than everyone had thought.

“I can’t wait to be back, actually. I really want to help. I have trained and I think I will be available.

“I don’t know if I will start or play for long, but to be available will be good.’’

Bring in Fabio and drop Morrison for Manga. Morrison looked very suspect against Burnley. Chipped in with a goal though but gets caught out of position too often, doesn't track runners , slow recovery and lets attackers get goal side of him.
