Ben Turner, who this week revealed the extent of his ankle injury and subsequent operation, has impressed on loan at former club Coventry.
Sky Blues boss Tony Mowbray admitting the 27-year-old has returned to South Wales to be assessed by Cardiff medical staff before rejoining the League One promotion hopefuls for their game with Sheffield United.
“When a player is coming back from a bad injury you just hope they will come out of the first two or three games trouble free so, touch wood, it’s looking very good for Ben,” Mowbray said.
“I’ve obviously kept Russell Slade fully in touch so Ben’s going down to Cardiff for a day so their own people can assess him then he’ll be back with us to prepare for Sheffield.”
